questions about stoking

The SR16VE has a higher RL than the SR20VE because the 1.6 was designed for a manual tranny, right? What my question is, is if you stroked an SR16VE to 2L, what would the RL be then??? Would the 2L bottom end be able to handle the stock 1.6L RL??? or does the 1.6 stroked to 2L make power on a smaller power band than the 1.6?

thanks

Andreas would probably be the man to answer this but, I'll try. When you put the 2.0 crank in the 1.6 you use the 2.0's rods and pistons. The main reason for stroking the 1.6 is that it has better cams as compared to the 2.0. I would imagine the 1.6L rods would be too long to use with the 2.0 crank. My $.02

Added quote from Andreas
"The SR20VE and SR16VE have the same bore 86mm but the pistons are diffrent. SR20VE has a 4cc dish and the SR16VE has a dome. If you put the SR16VE piston in a SR20VE it will give you 14-1 compression. The heads are the same, cams are diffrent, rod length is diffrent and crank is diffrent. "

the 1.6 has a higher rev limit because there is less mass and the ramp angles on the cams are not as agressive and les likely to cause valve float at high rpm. i had my 2.0 vvl to well over 8,000 while testing. the thing still runs fine. 2L botom end with 1.6 cams will be just fine to 8,000 rpm

Did you JWT program your computer to allow over 8000 rpm?
