SR20VE no longer in production?

As I was putting together the SR20VE FAQ I was looking at the JDM Nissan website and I noticed that the site has been given a facelift.

Of greater concern however is that both the Primera and Primera Wagon show the QR20DE and QR25DD motors as options and no SR20VE!!?

Someone please tell me I'm wrong.

I think you will find that all SR20 production has stopped as of the 2001 model year.( except for the 2002 G20, but it's just a rebadged 2001) The QR series engines are THE replacement for most of th SR applications. You will be seeing a ton of new vehicles (20 or 30 worldwide over the next couple of years) arriving all based on th QG, QR, VQ series of engines. I love the DD on the end though, that denotes direct injection (ya just like a diesel) and if North america ever gets the sulphur content of their gasoline down to the level of europe or asia, we might see more of these trick engines.

I think i've gone on long enough

I suppose this means the price of the VE will go up in the US. Well, I've had future hopes and dreams shattered before, I suppose I should be used to to it by now.

I read previously on several sites including the Nissan Japan web site that the new 02 Primera had an SR20VE offering with a 6 speed manual tranny. Have they stopped this offering and no longer building an SR motor? I suppose I'm feeling somewhat lucky to have acquired one of these motors.

Yeah we could, but why? Newer doesn't always necessarily mean better.
