sr20ve to sr20ve-T question

allright guys *** got a sr20ve from a primera wagon for a killerprice , and i wanted to know if anyone ever turbo a VE before????
Is it posibble to turbo the engine stock if so how much boost do you guys think i can safely run ,on that compression ratio ,or do you think i should decompress the motor ???????????
what size head gasket to use??????????? or can i use det stock pistons????????
and what will be the resultant C.R after either one of these mods ???????????
I dont really have that much cash onhand now i just want to get the most out of the motor , and not blow it in the process.

search around with terms like VE-T project. There are a few that have been done, one on a bone stock motor. There are more in the process.

What Will said. Searching is your best choice. It also has been done. My brothers and I have done two DET bottom ends with VE heads.

Just order some 8 to 1 compression DET pistons this will be 8,8 to1 in a VE Price for pistons about $600

Get some Eagle SR20DE for $320.

Once you have that stuff put it together

Okay, I'm probably going to sound stupid, but I though all DET pistons were 8.5:1?

We have a fully build SR20VE-T project which is making +500hp with a SC6176PTB Precision Turbo.

You can go with a turbo just need to replace the pistons with stock SR20DET pistons which you can get really cheap. Stock rods can handle up to 400hp max so they will be okay. Get a cometic metal head gasket for sr20VE. A good intercooler, some bigger injectors, a fuel controller and something to control timing such as the MSD 6A BTM which retards timing as boost rises.

+++++

When we first build the project we were looking aiming at +300hp, we used a Garret GT28RS turbo, now we have upgraded the rods, pistons are forged, arp all around bigger turbo, bigger injectors and we´re seeing the figures of +500hp.

As an aditional comment, it is INSANE to drive a Turbo SR20VE once the VVL kicks in, its amazing. One pretty thing we got for the car is a straight cut gearbox which requieres no clutch pedal to change gears. EVO´s and Imprezas can´t believe it.

Factory U13/W10 etc DET pistons are 8.5:1 but obviously you can order custom compression pistons for $600.
