Raising the spark plug question again...

Since putting the VE in, I've had an intermitant misfire thats been bugging me.
I fitted new BKR6E-N plugs (as adviced on here) into the engine and gapped them to 0.8mm. I'm running a stock DE ecu, dizzy and maf with 259cc DE injectors. My initial thoughts where a duff HT lead or faulty dizzy. Swapped both out with no improvement.
After a bit of head scratching, I took a look at the original plugs I took out he engine. They where BKR5EY plugs, gapped to 0.9mm. I dropped these in and got an improvement straight away...

The question is, what are the best plugs to use..? Are the BKR6E-N plugs playing up because I'm using smaller injectors and a DE ecu? If I swap back to standerd DE plugs, would it run better on the current set-up?

What are other peoples experiences with plugs...?

Search around, but I would go with a bigger gap. I believe I have mine (on an de) gapped at ~1.3mm (.051). It has been discussed on here how large you can go before blowing it out and I think it was as big as .060. Like I said, search to back up my statement before you do it, but I know you can go bigger than what your at now.

Hey folks -- I hope everyone is doing well.

Just to be clear, when I said "tip in" in the cited post, I meant upon opening the throttle, not after cam activation.

Quick update. I've had the car serviced and MOTed today.I was concerned that due to the misfire, it would would stuggle to meet the emission levels. However, replacing the spark plugs with standard DE ones has cured it. Passed with flying colours.

Might be a tip there for anyone struggling to get there VE though emission tests. Drop it back onto a DE set-up...
