Pulsar SR16VE dyno

Just strapped my car to the rollers today to get a base figure before sticking in my built up motor in a few weeks. Got 102.6kW @ 7800rpm. Darryl (EVLNXR) got a nice video of it for me

Enjoy

Not bad for a 1.6

The only other stock 16VE i've seen on the dyno made 95kw so yours must be nice and healthy

It's not 100% stock. The only mod I have done is installed my 3" alloy intake with a pod filter but that's it. I think that made the engine run worse more than anything but that's all good, it's more for my new SR20VE that's going in soon than for the 1600.

nice work! I was going to stick around to see your run, but had leave before you ran. As a comparison, My Vzr spun 101.9 kw's, and EVLDAN got 122kw. It'd be nice to have an N1! Mines also basically as it left nissan, except for a poverty pack filter and the CAT removed.

Whats with pulling the abs fuse out? Does this unleash some hidden monsters?

Pulling the ABS fuse made absolutely noooo difference on mine, haha. My car still has the cat and fully 100% stock exhaust system on it. I was watching yours like a hawk, love the sound of the VVL on the dyno. That sweet sound of twin kicking cams is music to my ears.
Matt hypothesised that pulling the ABS fuse in an N1 takes them out of "anti-abuse" mode. EVLDAN would be a better person to talk to about that as he also said that his car has been running a lot better than last time he dyno'd (getting 99kW) as he had done a couple of little things then.
I'll try scan my dyno chart and post it up. My AFR reading resembles the southern alps! Ramps down to 12s up top with a big lean spike as my intake cam comes on. It was just a base figure though so I'm not worried about it.

I know what you mean about the AF graph! Mine looks dam crazy! more like an earthquake reading! The guy running the dyno seems to think it's pretty normal for sr 16's though. Anyone had any experience with trying to flatten out the AF on an sr16ve?

I don't think the ABS fuse made a bit of difference, and speaking to Barry yesterday pretty much confirmed that (no hidden maps etc).
On that same dyno I have run 99.5kw and 106kw without any changes.

Matt is saying the abs computer is telling the n1 ecu that the front wheels are moving faster than the rear and it is retarding timing to stop the wheels spinning. So there wouldnt be any extra maps....

Well maybe an abs retard map.....

Basically factory traction control.

Im not convinced either yet.

I need to do some testing.

There is no hidden map so to speak.

I was road tuning an N1 a few weeks ago and we pulled the ABS fuse to shut down the ABS system as the car was spluttering under hard braking. On returning to the dyno, the car gained a healthy amount of Kw's above 4000rpm with the ABS fuse still pulled but I did not touch the ignition or fuel maps above 3600rpm.

If EVLDAN or Bazza1600 can atleast try a back to back power run with ABS on & off, then it should clear this up. I am curious to see the results...

Good question bigtoe (sorry havn't been on these forums in ages). I'll find out for you today, it was at a place called "torque performance". I've since done an exhaust and decent intake and power has risen to 107.3kW which is 143hp at the wheels (on the same dyno).

Guys please dont beleive anything Iamhappy says

Although he has a lot of general knowledge, he was not road tuning any N1, nor had ever ever rod tuned one, nor has he ever touched one. For proof of this there are only 3 N1's thats have come onto Austrlias shores - i know where all 3 of them are garaged.

I never knew the N1 had 4 channel ABS ability, ive driven one on track and i could feel the front pulsing off thier head (felt a lot harder and quicker than regular abs)

FFS, thats a good one. Maybe you can apply for a cams licence and import one? Oh sh!t, I forgot... thats how it was imported originally due to the hassles that compliancing was causing at the time :P If you want to get technical, it had number plates fitted BEFORE any other N1 but race rego is only for driving to events The freeway from Ballina to Tweed Heads was a good tuning section of road

More importantly, I am curious to know how you came to the assumption that the N1 did not come with 4 channel ABS... expert opinion based on the front brakes pulsing huh?

I've got to give it to you. Your rep is ruined with anyone who reads regularly, but you never give up. You are a thread hawk.
