How can I run good quarter mile times?

Last Friday at firebird I ran 14.9 @ 93 mph and I was kinda bummed out about that since I read in the FAQ, it says that a VE in a se-r should run 13.8 14.2 with full interior. I ran full interior but no spare or jack. I would like to know how I can run better times.

Mods: DE HKS header w/ 2" outlet, OBX test pipe/resonator,
stock catback,
HKS muffler,
WAI w/apexi filter, 9lbs flywheel, jgy pressure plate w/oem disk (I dont like jgy) , Calum ECU w/VE "basic tune",
14* timing,
BFG drag radial T/A's @ 25+psi due to a malfuntioning tire gauge.

Next time I want to run straight header and take out the rear seat and 13psi in the tires. Any other recomendations?

Why is your timing so low???
Since your BFGs had so much PSI in them this definetly killed it for you. A 2.3 60' with BFGs is not good at all. Your trap speed should be higher also.

You think I can bump my ign timing even more? How much timing should I run? I hear light weight flywheels are'nt good for launching. What rpm should I launch at?

I was using my friends "good" tire gauge at the track and it read 20psi, and that was as low as it would read out. When I got home I checked them with my gauge and it read 25psi. I was'nt to happy, but now they're at 13psi and ready for next friday.

Just as a reference, I ran 9.2 at 76mph with a 2.4 60' the last time I was at the track. Unfortunatly there arent any 1/4 mile tracks close to me.

SSAC 2.5" header
Place racing CAI
VRS 2.5" Exhaust
Two piece UR pullies
Calum ecu for 333inj, de maf

You will benifit from a lightweight flywheel, trust me. I still havent been able to tell what base timing feels the best with me calum ecu, I will have to wait for dyno time. I currently have it set at 15* IIRC

Edit: You should be able to launch around 6k with the bfg's

1st thing we need to know the race weight, if your car is 2500lbs without driver, that trap shows about 160whp or so. Next thing is which gear are you finishing in, you should be crossing the line in 3rd. If not get a bigger tire size so you can stay in 3rd otherwise your trap will be lower. Also where did you run at, we need to know the DA (density Altitude) of that day which you can find weather and DA'. This tells you how much power the engine is making compared to a day were conditions would net you 100% engine output weather. For best results run on some 22in slicks that should net you 1.8-1.9x 60' which should put you in the low 14s.

Did you port match your header? That header and exhaust is really hurting you. Let the engine breathe a little bit more and you'll improve your time dramatically.

Yes the header is port matched. I am shifting into 4th before the end of the 1/4mile. The track is Firebird Raceway in pheonix, AZ. I raced there on June 1st.

EDIT: I had realy bad wheel hop on that run and the next run I broke the rear motor mount bolts because of it.

The stock catback is killing you. A good 2.5" exhaust will be worth a couple of tenths.

So I guess the only things I will be able to change asap is straight header, tire pressure (13psi), and mess around with the timing. I will also toss the rear seat.

The run where I broke the rear motor mount bolts was launched at 4500 rpm's, and the 14.9 run was launched at 4000 rpm's.
