I was just wondering are the sr20ve and sr16ve trannys stronger than the USDM Sr20de trannys? also which has the shortests gears? and lastly is a ve tranny really worth *** 6-800$ that they are going for?(as far as strength and differance in gearing)

I *thought* that you could use any SR20DE tranny with a VE...further, that the VE's in Japan were typically in automatic vehicles. Perhaps I am mistaken.
However, any of these choices will bolt up to a VE:
well actually i was thinking of using a sr16ve tranny with a sr20de if the gears were shorter and just wanted to ask in the VE section since most the VE knoledge is here. Im thinking of doing a mild all motor setup and was just panning out options.

shawn is correct... check out that page as it lists the gear ratios for all known transmissions...
the strength of the sr16ve trans is the same as the pre 99 transmission..
the 01-02 trans from the g20 or the b15 sentra are the strongest ones

i never asked if it would fit i know it will fit im not an idiot. i simply asked if it had shorter gears and as strong if not stronger than a typical sr20de tranny.

the gears are as strong as the SR20DE, however, the lower gear ratio would technically increase the torque multiplication and 'could' make it more susceptible to failure.

very true...i failed to think about that..but maybe since im not planning on ALOT of hp it will be fine. Only time will tell i may just say forget it and buy a VVL lol
There is some speculation i have heard that the later model 32 series box, ie n15 VZR sr16ve and p11 sr20de, has a slightly better case design. It is a different casting, due to the fins on the front of the case, compared to the older style, so they may have sorted a bit of metalurgy and such, but i have never looked inside one of these cases to see what the differences are inside. They deffinatly use the same gearset setup, so there is no difference in strength of the gear design (unless metalurgy comes into it again). The only other thing with these box's is they are newer, so less likely to be worn out, so bearing tolerences etc may make them last a bit longer.
The 16ve gearbox is 4.44 ratio, compared to your average 4.1 ratio sr20de gearbox, so it will rev its nuts off on the open road, but great for keeping it on the ve cam when racing.
