how to test distributor

i am getting so pissed and confused about my car not starting i'm about to blow. Can anyone help me to test my Ve distributor. I have power, and gas but no spark.
my local buddy thinks this "Does it have an ignition module? Like a PTU? If it does tht could be it." but as of right now i dont know what that is. i searched for coil wire, ignition module, coil. but cant find anything that is helping me. i can even cough up a small reward if someone gets this going for me. i feel so much like a noob right now.

If it's a VE distributor then the coil will be internal. I assume that you've double-checked all of your wiring to make sure it's OK? It also has an internal resistor so have you cut the external one AND joined the wires up again afterwards?

Just use the DE one, I have heard the external coil fires harder as well.

Yes everything is the same wire like before.( i switched out pigtails) i never had to cut the exterior resistor inthe first place and my car ran well.

So you've had this dizzy running successfully in the car before & now it's stopped?

Sorry, not familier with the back story.

i had the running prefectly fine. then one day i decide that it would be a great idea to change my dizzy pigtail. the old pigtail was but connected with minor cuts in the green wire. so i switched the pigtail one wire at a time, the maf sensor was the only other wires that i touched. finished up went to start the car, no go. now i'm here

Not to beat a dead hoarse...but do you have a DE dizzy and no coil?

Triple check everything.....if you can try using a volt meter to be sure all the wires are connected completely. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

i car was running fine before i swapped pigtails. nothing else has changed. i checked with a volt meter and the thick black with red stripe wire is getting 12v all the way to the distributor.

If you've tried swapping out the dizzy then it's got to be in the wiring somewhere on the pigtail (unless you've had the misfortune of 2 dud distributors).

Fuses have been checked right?

Do you have a wiring diagram that shows not only the colours of the wires but also what they do / where they go?

Did you check the earth too?
