checking VE engine codes????

Hey guys, my buddies 20ve threw a code the other day, and i for the life of me cant figure out how to check the codes. i have spent quite a while searching the forum for the answer. the ecu is an sr16ve ecu, and it doesnt have the little led and spin screw knob. so i dont know how to check it..

can anyone give me some ideas?

if its the same as the vz-r sr16ve,you link the 2 pins in the top right hand corner of the diagnostic socket for 2 seconds then the codes will come up on the dash,,,,,to cancel out of it link them again for 2 seconds.All you need is a paper clip or a piece of wire.

which socket is the diagnostic socket??

the one in the fuse box, under the dash, or the obd2 looking one

that will work if its an obd1 style connector

if its obd2 i think its the 2 pins that are furthest apart

Yea the one in the fuse box to the right of steering wheel.
