EXH cam wont switch?

just got the '94 B13 - SR20VE running with the SR16VE ECU. Consult-II communicates, and will activate both cams together or independently with a function test, but when monitoring it, only the intake cam will switch on. anybody have any ideas?

The exhaust cam on a stock SR16 ecu kicks in at ~6300RPM.

It's either an electrical or mechnical issue.

earth out the exhaust cam switch and listen for it clicking. I found the easiest way is to wire it directly up to the battery ith a couple of leads.
If it's clicking, test the earth wires back to your ECU. and the feed wires from the battery. If all ok, then you need to check if the ecu is operating properly. I've done this by piggy backing an LED onto earth earth wire at the ECU. When the ECU earths out the cam switch, the LED lites up...( handy little indicator on the dash...)
If all that is working, then it's mechanical. Most likely and oil blockage. You need to strip out the cam and cam followers and clean it all. Use the cam/retainer swap instruction on here for that. It's pretty good...
