Worth going DE to VE?

Alright guy's...I have been thinking.

Right now I have a B14 with a SR20DE. All it has is a Intake, and cat-back. I would already like a big change in power for my car. To turbo my car would be a lot of money. So I am wondering if going from my DE to VE would give me that big change in power that I am looking for, and for a better price rather than turboing the engine I have now?

Any help, and advice would be appreciated. Also, if someone would give me like a rounded price of how much a VE engine would cost alone?

You will get more power from a DET. But I have a VE and LOVE it for my daily driven needs. I have an NX with a VE, and the power compared to my DE with bolt-ons is like black and white. VE FTW!

To install a VE into a B14 is quite easy, from what Im told.

I look at it this way.
Relibility-VE
Power-DET

I have a 390whp nx and a ve powered p10, i prefer the p10 for daily, although it really needs some mods to wake it up a bit, turbo is cool if you can keep it simple, but its just to tempting to turn the boost up, then it gets not as nice as a daily driver.

i prefer my ve over my de any day of the week. being worth it?? to make the de preform like a ve would cost you more than the ve would cost you alone. the ve is a screamer at higher rpms. running with my ve and a stock ve header just after doing the motor swap i took it for a test spin and forgot how much i spent on the whole thing.

If power is what you are looking for go DE+T. For I have spent on my VE so far, I could have got a very nice 220-230 hp turbo set up and have money left for suspension mods.

With that said, If what you are looking for is the feel of a real race car reving to 9K, then go VE with cams, springs and headers. (stock is just ok).

VE= Very exciting!

Once those cams kick in it just rips to 8k. If you have only driven a de, with bolt-on's, you will be very happy with a ve.

A VE won't really feel THAT much of an increase over the DE. Not in your b14. But you will run really strong. I had a VE with just a header and the power was impressive. But if you want to FEEL a huge difference the turbo will really make you giggle. VE swap is about 2500-3000 anyway if you really want to do it right.

I would still get the VE. Tons of fun and simplifies the engine bay nicely.

So you say that the VE sawp is about 2500-3000. Then how much would just buying a DET cost me, or just turboing the engine I already have?

1400 plus shipping for a ve motor so most like 1700 shipped. you can swap everything over easily in your b14. even if you still have the money spend 1000$ get cams and springs. but do what i did if you haven't already get the small things first.
header- ssac 150shipped or if you have the money Power freak header- somewhere around a grand i think?
3" exhaust 400$
motor mounts 60$
msd 8969 80$
intake- ebay50$ custom 100$

good luck , no matter what it will be fun

Get a JWT computer too unless you can go Calum. You will need 7500rpms. I used the JWT program and had a few issues, but the DE computer will not work with the bigger injectors unless you get something to modify the air-fuel ratio.

what you talking about.. i got the heaviest car out there a 02 P11 and swapped a ve in it.. only change was crank and w/p pulley and a lightened flywheel and it pulls way harder than the rr motor and I still havent hooked up the big cam yet...
