I'm getting a misfire on the VE that's proving a problem to track down. My current set-up is; SR20VE engine, SR16VE cams, 265cc injectors, DE ecu, DE MAF. I'm currently running just on the low cams so in theory, it shouldn't be much different from a standard DE set-up. However I'm getting an erratic misfire on one cylinder. The plug is getting sooty which suggests it's running rich. The other three are ok.
Originally, it was on cylinder No. 3. I've swapped the plugs, leads and dizzy with no effect. Yesterday I swapped the injectors and now the mis-fire has moved to cylinder No. 4.
I'm suspecting the fault my lie with the injector. Anyone got any thoughts...?>
The stock SR20DE injectors are extremely common for leaking. I have about 10 injectors sitting in a box that leak fuel at anymore than 30psi of fuel pressure.
Try and find another single injector

Do you mean the large 'o' ring that sits between the injector and intake manifold? If so, I checked them too. The mis-fire has changed cylinders from No. 3 to No. 4. Only thing that moved across was the injector...
I'm speaking of the o-rings on the injector. If you are not aware of them it is more than likely your problem, as they should be lubricated when installing the injector. These o-rings manage the fuel, so that only fuel from the pintle enters the cylinder when the injector is fired. If the o-ring is torn or leaking, then you have unwanted fuel entering the cylinder causing a rich condition. The extra unatomized fuel will flood the cylinder and cause the misfire.
Right, the problem is the injector. Fuel is running either through it or past it all the time, flooding the cylinder... I've just had the plugs out again and there's a swimming pool of fuel in the mis-firing cylinder...
I'll take the injector out of the fuel reail and check the rings...

On the one in front of me, the lower ring is damaged. Would this be the cause of the fuel flowing through it....?
this is so common on turbo swaps more so than ve's cause ve owner tend to keep the same injectors
anyway hope this fixes your issues

For future reference:
The top o ring stops the rail pressurised fuel from squirting out around the red cap. The bottom o ring stops fuel from flowing in/around the pintle. Between the two o rings, the injector is pressurised by fuel rail pressure and is directed down the injector body.
