Anyway, an update. I've sourced myself a a post 2002 20V engine in japan at a good price and I'm on the verge of having it shipped over. However, I still need to clear up the ecu issue. As with the P11 SR20VE, can I drop the 20V into a P12 and hook it up to the stock ecu and get it working, or do I need to have the 20V ecu?
If I needthe 20V ecu, do I also need to have the exact ky to match, or again like the P11 VE, can I get the ecu reprogrammed to accept the existing car key...?

The 20v Engine have drive by wire, CAS thus meaning no distributor and muliple coils wich means that a 20VE ecu wont run it. I have just bought the same engine and are going to replace the drive by wire Tb with a N1 TB, and getting a 20VE daughterboard reprogrammed for the 20VE ecu to run the CAS and multiple coils.
You can not have the stock ecu reprogrammed unless you fit a daughterboard that is programmable.
MSM in Auckland NZ have these daughterboards and you can contact him on this board. Bazza1600
Good luck
