BC VE Springs?

Anyone have any experience using the VE springs/retainers sold here:?

http://www.sr20forum.com/slowboy-rac...rice-list.html

They're Brian Crower parts so they must be good, right? Great price, but are the specs in line with what one would want to run?

Thanks,

_Scott

I've not had a close look at S/R yet, are the Frankins/ Freaks also dual spring setups or single upgraded springs?

They're double spring. Brian Crower of BC Cams sells them so I don't know if they manufacture them or just rep them. Great price, but I was hoping someone had tested them prior to buying them...

I have it directly from BC that they're double. ;^)

VALVE SPRING/RETAINER KIT
Designed for high rpm, BC valve springs are wound from only the highest grade, super clean, chrome silicone alloy and feature proprietary processing procedures for consistent pressures. BC titanium retainers are CNC machined from 6AL4V round bar titanium to exacting tolerances.

Spring Pressure:
Seat: 1.460" @ 88 lbs / Open: 0.950" @ 220 lbs / Coil Bind: 0.790" (no machine work required)
Mandatory to check valve guide to retainer clearance prior to operation.

have you used them in your vvl / are they vvl friendly? what is the max rpm on n1 cams?
there is no mention on bc webpage/catalog about sr20ve or vvl. and they are single. is there no difference for ALL sr20?

what is the price "directly" from BC?

I called and spoke to one of the tech guys. They quoted something like $375 (I can't remember exactly) for the S/R kit, and around $200ish for springs only. I have all but ordered a set from SBR, but I was hoping someone had some direct experience with 'em.

SBR claims 9500, but no mention of which cams that's related to. I'll be running N1s and hope to bump 9000, but I don't think I'll have the breathing to go much higher at my price/pain threshhold! :^)

Stock VE springs are singles?

So, nobody's got these huh?

hmm...

How do these compare to the Freak springs then, are these the ones Charles developed?

VVL tuning is such a soap opera...

So the best springs are the BC from turbofreaks
And the cheapest are ALSO BC from SBR....

And they are the same?

To be fair to Charles, he did say from the start that the springs he developed would eventually be sold as a general release item through BC. The initial batch would've been more expensive as they were a custom order.
