"Shopping-list"

I'm considering doing a VE swap on my P10, figured I need a VE engine (doh), uprated clutch\flywheel and a Greddy MSS or somthing alike it for the VVL activation. I want to do this without the use of a VE ECU, since I WILL be using a MT, and the wireing would also be simplified (or not?).

My question: What do you reckomend me to use in the way of engine management? In addition to my stock ECU (SR20De, rev limit 6750). What do i need? Will a piggyback do the job?

Notice im plannig to upgrade to a JWT ECU later, just want to know what I need to get the engine running, not super-efficient, just drivable and "safe".

Thanks in advance

All depends on how far you want to go on the power side. If you're planning to use a DE ecu, then not a lot else. If your going for a VE ecu then a VE MAF would help.
With my swap I'm running the engine on a completly DE set-up - Dizzy, MAF and ECU. The only thing I swapped over where the injectors, which I changed for 256cc DE injectors so it wouldn't run rich on the DE ecu. Down side of this is you can't really run it on the high cams, however I wouldn't suggest you do that much until you have the ecu reprogrammed and the injectors swapped back to 333cc...

Ok, so I can run it safely if I swith over the De injectors, but VVL is naturally not recomended, understandable since it need a litle bit extra fuel

So for VVL action I have to get myself some sort of piggyback or an extra injector w\controller.

Btw what is the factory\recomended rev-limit and VVL activation RPM's?

You can either drop in a factory VE ecu (as i'll be doing) or get your DE ecu reprogrammed and install a MSS switch for the cams.
The factory ecu have set switch points. I can't remember the actual figures, but the intake comes in at over 4500 with the exhaust some 500rpm later. Rev limiter on the SR20 is in the 7500 range.
The MSS will alow to switch at what ever rpm you want...

Yes I know, I've done my research, MSS gives earth.. bla bla j\k
MSS is a good solution since it allows independent cam-triggering, or maybe I'll just put a big " NOS" button on my steeringwhell and hook it up to the VVL solenoids

Is that sane? I'm running 19\20* on my De on 98 RON, what about the A\F ratio?

Because the engine is less sensitive to detonation if the mixture is rich? Just a tought..
