ve intakes

Well after doing some research through the search, se-r.net, sentra.net, and some other various nissan pages I still canmot decide what i think the best intake for the SR20VE is. currently now i am still using my de, and i have a JWT pop, but want to get a cai that will be the best for my upcoming ve motor. The aem has 2.5" piping which is adequately sized for a de (and tuned for one), i dont know if this will choke a ve as compared to a 3" pipe provided by the PR cai. the downside to the PR is the aem has better quality. I am leaning towards going weith the pr combined with my pop for the best possible results, which was also recommended by mike kojima i think before the aem came out.

anyway, i will probably end up dyno'ing both the aem and PR/pop cai's, but i just want to know what all you ve guys(and girls) think.

thanks, steve

Get the Place Racing. AEM uses 3 inch tubing on the RSX Type S and on the other ITR engines. I would not use the 2.5 inch AEM for this reason.

Go with a 3 inch tube. The VE MAF is roughly 3 inches on both sides unlike the DE which necks down to a smaller size on one end.

To use the VE MAF you will need the MAF adapter for a maxima. It will say "NISMAF02" on it.

From Place Racing. Don't buy the hotshot one. It's crap. Notice I didn't say IMHO.

well, finally got my PR catalog today. the cai's themselves look good, but the filters look like just plain shiat. Is their anyway i can connect my POP to the intake? a special adapter? I know some of you will say it's a waste of money.............so don't.

You can use your POP filter which will work with the adaptor or you can do what I did and just go and buy a K&N filter similar to what the other CAIs use.

I personally don't like the foam filter Place Racing is using either. Last time I bought a CAI from PR it came with a better filter but I guess things have changed a bit.

If you have a DE POP, then use the DE adapter. If you already have a CAI, use the MAF adapter that comes with the intake, to connect the POP to the intake. Use the Maxima adapter to connect the VE MAF to the intake.

i was just thinking that the de adapter will choke the 3" intake. If it was for a NA de it wouldnt matter. thats the whole reason for using the maxiam MAF adapter, right?
