rpm switches?

I have a quick question, I see a lot of ve owners using rpm switches. Has anyone considered using a vtec controller, i know it is intended for hondas, but dosen't in a since activate the vtec switch over point the same way the ve switch over point should work? Just wondering.

from what i have heard a honda vtec controller will cause some interference with the nissan ecu somehow. most of the vtec controllers are for sinlge stage vtec. i suppose you could get an i-vtec controler for the rsx if they make one. the vtec controllers are also expensive, with rpm switches being fairly reasonable. i am going to be building a prototype vvl controller on my return to the US and see how it works on my car should be fairly inexpensive if it works. it will be two stage and adjustable.

This is actually the only part of my swap that I haven't bought yet. I like the MSD switches but the pills are in 200rpm increments and then in 1000 rpm sets ie: 5000,5200-5800. I can' decide which to get. Plus they also have the variable on that cost more.

That sounds great. When do you get back from Japan? My VE should be here soon. BTW, Three things I have always wished I could do. 1) Weld 2) Rebuild a transmission 3) Make Electrical components. Quess what I'm doing this weekend. Putting a Quaife into a tranny I have in the garage. One of these days I am going to take some classes.

I have my trusty FSM and some good written directions that Ben Davis gave me when I bought the Quaife. If I feel like I am over my head I have a Nissan Mechanic who I can pay to put it in. Ben’s directions are pretty good. Also, He said that if you pay attention to how it feels when moving the lever and how the gears spin before you take it apart and then it feels the same after the install, you are good to go.
Do you think that cam controller could be done before my install on the 20th? This is very generous of you to offer this.

Thanks

I would prefer that screwdriver adjustment. Less chance of the state inspector messing with something he shouldn't. Let me know if you think you can make it. I can probably get the MSD parts pretty quick so I will wait till I hear from you after you get back. I love the idea of the infinite adjustment.
