VE is on the way

Andreas shipped my VE today. Should be here soon. I will let everyone know. I have a questions for those who have done the swap already.
What do I do with the pilot bushing/bearing that goes in the flywheel? Do I need it or not?

I'm saving up for my VE and was wondering how much you were able to get your's for. Also how long did you have to wait for the supplier to get one for you. thanks

Call Andreas (or maybe he will see your post). Time and price varies with supply and quality of engine. I also wanted the SR16 cams. The VE FAQ is ballpark accurate for price.

Just to tell everyone now instead of latter I will NOT be starting off with the SR16 Cams. I will start with the SR20 cams and then swap in the SR16 cams after a couple weeks. I can also decide to not get the sr16cams if I want at this point. I am a little concerned that some of my local autcrosses are so slow that the bigger cams may not be a good option for here.

the pilot bushing goes in the crank, and you dont need it. the input shaft of the transmission never gets close enough to touch the crankshaft.

In my ongoing saga. I got my header today from Japan. It's a Fujitsubo. It is gorgeous. Nice clean welds. I think this one is slightly different then Jim's. Jim did yours have a dimple like finish on it? I can’t remember. Also, the engine is scheduled to arrive on Monday. I am going to pull the engine in my car on Saturday since I have a nice group to help. We are having a little mini geek out at my house. Going to change brakes on one classic, Change transmission fluid on another classic, and change the valve cover gasket on a M3. Should be fun.

B.T.W. Which spark plugs is everyone running on thier Sr20VE's? I shouldn't need to change mine but I might want to have an extra set handy.

Who sent you the header? Mine is a smooth, unpolished finished. They are nice though huh?

I'm running NGK Iridium's BKR6EIX, stock number 6418. These were recommended by NGK in Japan.

Mine is also smooth and unpolished. I quess I saw soooo many headers at Carlisle that I was blinded by the chrome. The header is very nice. Can't wait to put it in.

I paid either 475 or 500 for the header. But I also paid airfrieght for delivery which cost 150. Total was 650 and that made the contact in Japan a little for his effort. When you consider that the HS header is 500 plus tax and shipping for a steal header and you see the quality of this Stainless piece compared to HS you will know it is a great deal. Here is a picture that Jim just sent me side by side Hotshot VS Fujitsubo.

Jim I hope you don't mind me posting your picture.

That will fit a sr16ve because the head and the block EXTERNALY are the same/similiar. But it is tuned for the sr20ve. I checked the link in the VE sticky they do not make one for the sr16ve. Personally I would get this one for when/if you ever upgrade the internals of a sr16ve. I would not spend the money on a header specific to a sr16ve.

Question reguarding the header. I read the FAQ first. I know a DE header will have overlap issues in the .25-.125 area. Is this due to the tubing size or because of the bolt holes lining up differently? Could the Fujitsubo head be used on a DE? I currently have a DE with the JWT C2 cams and other mods and think the cams could benifit from a better breathing header.

Do you want it for a VE or a DE? They make one for the DE also.

Those are some samples of the DE headers they have. They all look the same to me on their website so you would need to compare the specs of the differrent headers. My quess is that all the de headers are the same but come with different heat shields and stuff. Mine has some things I will probably Not need. These headers are the real deal and seem very well thought out.

Edit: Just noticed the the O2 sensor placement was different on those two pictures. Check out this page and the other page after this. http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/mc-prod/ Go to Super EX and then click on the little car.

this proves my thinking all along.... slip joint is superior to flex, people used to badmouth the PS for the slip joint, but this work of art uses the same device
