im a fan of old school cars and one day will get one 510 or a 240z, found some pics, not a ve but a fwd motor in a datsun 510, good luck on the build
dont want to jack your thread... just planning to do the same thing...
looking at the pic he just cut a hole for the dissy ... seems to bee the easiest way... i just hate to cut the firewall.. but will save a lot of time... i already have mikuni carbs as well just have to make a manifold which i can just cut a ve manifold and make bracket and couplers for the carbs... but i want to run EFI...

Okay so here's the scoop. I have my S14 bottom end and tranny in the 510 and we were putting in the head yesterday but came upon a annoying problem with the firewall. The VVL has 2 solenoids that my 510 does not have room for and yes we had to cut, mash and mangle a 6"x6" hole to make it fit and after all that the head is still not sitting down right (we did get it on smooth but that was before we put the solenoids on and mashed the hole). The hole looks bad but I can fix that later. =) This is the biggest speed bump that we have come across thus far with this swap overall it hasn't been bad at all. Thanks once again to Avshi and Luis, you guys rock! I'm taking pictures this next weekend and hopefully the head+valve cover will be on for a photo op. There is still a crap load of things that need to be done before the Datsun is screaming, hopefully soon.
Yeah the white one is nice but it's not VE haha, this is what is special about my swap RWD ve. Hopefully in the coming months it will actually be moving, running and tearing it up. Once again the white one is very clean. =P
You see it's trick photography that thing is not even close to the front, we actually had to cut and smash my fire wall, which sucks!! My CAS came in the mail today so all I have left to get is my ITB set-up and port match my header and some other crap and then off to the tuner!!
yeah well I'm tearing out my damn motor again to put my CAS on and I'm going to have to cut even more out. After I cut the bigger block out I'm taking my car to a guy to have him make a plate that indents into the firewall and he will weld it all the way around , once I get my engine bay repainted and the car painted it will look clean hopefully. To be honest bro it's so damn tight right there even with those plates I still would have had to smash my fire wall in. Either way I had to fabricate. Good looking out though, thank you.
Well I'm sure it will look fine once the cutouts are boxed. I'm looking forward to seeing more progress on the build. Its going to be one mean machine when you get her back on the road.
WOW, this IS THE most interesting project ive seen in some time!! I will be following this thread very closely, good luck with it!! And post pics/vids when its all done : )
