SR16ve/SR20de block??

Are the blocks the exact same, i know there both 86mm bore but what about height of cylinder?

I wanna convert my sr16ve to 2.0l but do i need an sr20 bottom end or can i just use sr20 crank and rod to get the extra stroke needed?

I have searched for this but cant find any info on any differences in the blocks?

Thanks

To make your 1.6 into 2.0 you need the DE crank and rods. You can reuse your pistons but make sure your gas is very good quality or you might have to shave the dome of the pistons down. Also you need to notch the pistons for the oil squirters or you are going to be in for a world of hurt the 1st time the motor spins. I'm rebuilding a 1.6 into a 2.0 because my 2.0 took a crap on me and I don't want to mess with that crappy bad luck motor anymore.

Thanks for the reply.

The plan was to use the standard SR16ve N1 pistons so that'd mean i wouldnt need to notch them or am i wrong?

If the standard SR16VE N1 engine is 11.8:1 what will the CR be if its a litre stroke? Can someone help me with this?

not on the N1 pistons. on the regular SR16VE pistons you have to notch them. I haven't got my head CCed yet to figure out what the compresion would be.

The SR20VE piston is on the left and the SR16VE piston on the right. Look to the lower left of the skirt and you will see the diffrence. The SR20VE has to clear the oil squirters because of the storke. Double check your piston when you take it out and make sure it is notched.

Sr20VE on left SR16VE on right. Note the dome on the SR16 vs the SR20.

Right i get ya now, its just because the extra stroke, the N1 piston needs to be notched to clear the squirters.

Does the sr20de pistons have notches?

Is there anyone that makes 12:1 cr pistons with notches to suit the sr16ve/sr20ve?

Yellow4G63, clearing the oil squiters means that we need to cut out the fence like skirt (the one below the piston ring) from the SR16 piston. I am confuse now. Please advise me.

Look at the picture it says it all. The one on the left is a SR20VE piston, on the right SR16VE piston.
