Any knock when using DE ECU with VE Motor

Im running a UK SR20DE ECU from a Primera GT 150hp to run a VE motor.

Does anyone know how far the timing will be out with this combination?? Its running very rich at the moment and I was wondering if I'm going to have to adjust the timing the avoid detonation when I get the mixture set correctly and get the cams switching.

At the moment it's just using the low rpm cams.

Any help is much appreciated

You're motor is running rich because the VE has 333cc injectors, while the DE ecu is set for 256cc injectors.

Timing is typically 15 to 17 degrees.

I have tested the ve on 91 octane to be very very detonation resistant. Just my findings though. I ran as much as the dizzy would go for timing before I tore the engine down and not a tick in sight. I am at a higher elevation but still, I was impressed with how much timing the engine took.

this was on the jwt ve program

So you actually slammed your dizzy full advanced? What's that, 25 BTDC?!

Did you continue to gain power all the way?

I'm running 15 and was wondering if I should/could go more.

17 degrees is good. But I'd be careful going any further...

yes I actually advanced it all the way, in 90 degree heat in the middle of summer. Nothing. I stopped gaining power after 19 degrees on the dyno. 21 degrees showed the best torque gains, but I lost it up top. I believe the dizzy maxes at 30 or so.

I say try it, just see what you find. If the engine pings it will throw a cel after the computer pulls timing a few times. I never had a light come on once. Never noticed any detonation. I am at 4000 ft elevation on 91 pump.

keep in mind that jwt programs have changed around a bit so depending on which program you got you may have diff results. I know some ppl in arizona had problems with detonation on the jwt and they changed the program. My car had the signature bog before 3k rpm when cold. Advancing the timing was the only way I could get my bottom end power back.
