Sr20ve vs. sr20ve 20v?

Whats the difference between the two? I know that the '20v' is newer and improved and has a higher stock hp rating. But is it worth the extra money or no? Also, where can i find one ive been looking for one with no luck.

Better head design.

As for whether is it worth the money, that all depends on how much you consider the extra 24bhp is worth.

its deff a better motor. its got a better IM, 11.0:1 cr, and a better head, both flow and more coolant passages and better cams. but there not easy to find and you will deff pay for all the extras. the regular ve is a lot cheaper.

Only a very few in the states. If you find one, crack open your wallet real wide. 2.5-3k and more is not uncommon just for the motor alone.

i paid $4500 NZ for and engine and gearbox including ecu and loom etc. Im still happy with the price.

Not using the p12 ecu now, got a daughter boarded p10 ecu.

Its a nice engine, likes to rev to 8, its ok over that but pointless with the close ratio 6 speed (4.7 in 5th, around 4.3 in 6th i think).

Havent had it on the dyno with the new ecu yet, the p12 one was holding back the TB from fully opening and very limited timing.

From what i have read, save money and get a p11 and put n1 cams in it, a good set of headers and a dyno tuned chipped ecu.

With regards to headers, the p11 primaries are not all that bad, and a custom set of secondaries to go with them is not a bad option.

I'm not convinced yet on how good the p12 stock primaries and secondaries are yet. May make a set of better secondaries at some stage, and then a set of 4 into 1's later. Factory secdaries have a cat just after the merge.

this is what id do if i were you. Get a udsm sr20 and swap it in to your b15, so then later down the road you can either

a) turbo the usdm
b) swap in a VE

either way youll have basically everything already needed for the VE swap besides the msd box or something to kick over the cams. Even a basic bolted SR is better than the QR18

SR's are only in 240sx when you look...well maybe a few more FWD's in Tampa area but My G has no showing of DET except the FMIC I have. Once you drive a boosted car you'll never want to go back. Too much fun IMO and if you want to go crazy turbo the VVL

Ive been talking to Gregory out of Maryland for a while now and hes helping me out with everything, I'm most likely going with the sr20ve then boosting it. But i want to know if the 20v is going to be alot better than the older ve's for performance, reliability, and overall less stressful

nah...boosting that high of a compression motor isnt the best idea unless you have the money (once again) to do it right. A regular VE is cheaper and would probably be a better base for boosting. All of this IMO

Just get a regular VE, and spend the money you would have spent to get the 20v VE, on Pistons, rods, Cams and a Turbo Setup, get your computer programed.. Run a (consevative) 8-12 pounds of boost.. Youll end up with Alot more HP, and a Stronger Engine... for around the same price as the 20v..
Youll be alot happier..

I have a 97 200sx with a VE, and dont have the Computer reprogramed Yet, and I love the difference..

I paid $1300 with ca tax included, came with Harness, ECU, MAF. Good clean engine.. I just have to finish the project now.
Hope this gives yiu some help

they are very hard to find but if you really really want one and have the money you can buy all the stuff you need to make one new from nissan. i plan on buying a full head setup from nissan very soon. i cant remember exactly how much it is but i think its between 3-5k for just the full head.

Mine is doing good, in need of a wideband, new clutch, and a bigger maf but other than that shes fine.

Theres hardly any turbo fwd sr20's in this area. You can basically count them on 1 hand

Lol... if you want something less stressful stick with N/A, Dont get me wrong turbo is great and really fun to drive but it can be very stressful and cost alot of money.
