SR20VET with P12 internals

i just bought a full SR20VET engine from a GT X-trail

after doing some reseach and finding out the cam specs im not very happy
the turth is i think its very disappointing
i wont be using the whole engine im going to be removing the cylinder head and bolting it onto a 180sx SR20DET bottom end
the bottom half of the engine is a full built bottom end so i intend on making as much power out of a garrett GT3076r

i want to swap the cams and all the valve tain inside the cylinder head so i can have both the vvl system on the intake as well as the exhaust
i also want the same duration and valve lift as the P12 SR20VE (20V)

could i please give me a list of all the parts which i will need to do this
also if u have part numbers of all the parts each i need that would be great help

I have that same turbo, .63 ar and with the stock sr20ve cams I lose power when both cams are switched on. I lost 12whp peak on 10psi. Before you upgrade the cams, make some good power. The other cams have way too much overlap and you will have to rev really high to make use of them.

I hear the 20v cams are better, but they have even MORE overlap. You will need to dial out a lot of the overlap to make really good power. But keep looking and doing research. Try to find out what works for yourself and keep us posted. There is a lot of r&d that needs to be done still for the VE motors. I am more than happy to share my results with anyone.

You will need a BIG turbo to make use of that overlap.

You mean Valve springs and retainers? Why don't you try Frankling cams there closer to you, hell you could ask them to make you a turbo cam grind.

Well then dust off the old check book and make a trip to dealer and order the parts you need. since the 20V is not as easy to come by.

That's probably why he's wanting part numbers for the required parts. Hell, for all we know they're sitting on tons of 20v parts in Aussie Land.

Argh, what makes you think they do not work?

Also, with that turbo you can forget running more than around 25psi with that particular turbo with 20V cams unless you want to be pushing hot airm it will push you right off the edge of the compressor plotted graph unless you want to control boost and bleed it off to 22~25psi before 7000rpm . The VE engines consume a LOT more air than a DE head
