Some more information would he helpful.

How is your idle?
What plugs are you running?
What ECU are you using, and what is your timing setting?

idle +/- 1000 rmp

calum basic

i've been playing with the timing after grinding off a bit of the distributor, i've found the hesitation goes away between around 13-14 degrees but the idle jumps to 1200rpm. above 14-15 degrees the idle fluctuates and stalls.

Thanks for the extra information. It doesn't make much sense that the engine would stall at higher base idle settings. Where did you get the bin for the Calum ECU? Also, have you checked the Throttle Position Sensor specification?

I have had a similar problem with my VE engine. I discovered that the TPS was within specifications for closed and open throttle, but the voltage sweep between closed and wide open throttle was not linear.

Yesterday I replaced the TPS and the problem seems to have gone away, plus the throttle response across the spectrum has improved.

What did you use to read the voltage changes?
