Took Ve to the track

My Ve is running good but not good enough

R/T .484
60 2.422
330 6.497
1/8 9.817
mph 74.09
1000 12.653
1/4 15.057
mph 92.49
stock flywheel ,no lsd, gear oil on clutch, bad tranny , and bald tires
I beat GT-S Spec-V Mustang Camaro ss
only lost to a 10 sec car and a STI that i spank on the way home on the highway\
My tranny wont let me shift fast enough to break 14's
i ran 15.0 at 94 mph also

Re: Took Ve to the track

Gotta post your setup for us to make constructive comments. If you are running the DE ecu definitely advance your timing to 20deg or so. I got an extra 1mph on my traps from that. And work on the 60', 2.2xx is reasonable for street tires. good luck.

There are WAY to many variables to take in to account to just compare your friends ET to this guys.

For one, ET doesn't mean jack. MPH is where you can really tell how much horsepower a car is making.

SEcond, even comparing MPH is difficult when talking about two totally different tracks. Eleveation and climate conditions must be compensated for.

Spend a while reading the FAQ, and searching this forum.. That has been covered many times.

STI are not as fast as you think. They do have a good launch but that is it.

Re: Took Ve to the track

fine. i dont care if you believe me or not. i have no reason to lie. ive been beaten by z29's that sprayed. the sti had one guy in the car, filming us. it was me, the sti(with intake) and a srt4 with intake exhaust computer and injectors. the srt put 2 car lengths on me and i put like a half a car on him. he weights about 1000 more pounds than me and makes about 250 something at the wheels, i make about 185. power to weight is similar ratios and with his shortass off the line gear-box...do the math.

Re: Took Ve to the track

OK, after looking up some numbers they seem to be trapping at around 103-105 mph tops. so i take it your pulling him around 110 mph? i believe you. it's just odd, they must have a REALLY good launch to pull low 13's at lil over 100mph

Re: Took Ve to the track

yea i mean look at the 0-60 ft times. he kills me. in a 2nd gear pull when im at 3k rpm, he kills me. a 2nd gear pull when im at 5k, dead even. but when im in 2nd gear at 5k, hes in 3rd at lower rpm. its all a gearing and weight game.

Re: Took Ve to the track

Wrx's are notorious for being sh*t after 100kph (around 60mph). If they launched hard they would always get me off the line but i would come back and pass at around 120 (top of 2nd gear). That was in my mildy worked S14a Silvia (sr20det).

In Australia wrecks are everywhere, theyre usually easy pickings but every now and again you find a well worked one which will leave you for dead hehe.

Re: Took Ve to the track

WHY are you guys afraid STI's
When i ran the STI at the track after that 1.8 r/t i started to catch up.
if it was not awd it would pull about 14.5 to 15.0.

ME

60 2.504
330 6.602
1/8 9.931
mph 74.11
1000 12.762
1/4 15.179
mph 89.35

STI
R/T .520
60 1.837
330 5.588
1/8 8.728
mph 77.78
1000 11.428
1/4 13.717
mph 97.96

I dunno man, i cant take an STI on the highway and i trap at 97mph with my VE. From the looks of your timeslip next to the STI he was only 3mph faster at the 1/8 mile but 8mph faster by the 1/4 mile so im not sure how you were catching up. Not trying to start a pissing contest, but STI's are pretty fast. 300hp is no joke even if it is heavy.

Re: Took Ve to the track

If it weren't AWD.... It wouldn't lose so much to drivetrain losses, and despite the lower 60' time, it would likely make similar 1/4 times.
