cam pulley

My tuner told me I may need adjustable cam pulleys for my VE
its a 189hp SR20VE with 20V interior.
I have been looking for them since last year, but all replies
from Japan (HKS, JUN, TOMEI...etc) have no idea which adj.
cam pully can be put on the VEs.

Now me and my tuner are trying to borrow some adj. pulley from
Silver (15/14) and see which one will match, a slow & stupid way.

If I've found out the answer I'll post here to share with you guys.

Re: cam pulley

I think the number of teeth on the 20V cam gears are different to all the other VE's (and hence the number of teeth on the crank is different, ie. smaller teeth). If you are running these parts, you will not be able to use JWT's.

Andreas Miko posted this up somewhere IIRC correctly, he was dissappointed he won't have access to adjustable cam gears for his 20V project.

Here it is, just found the thread:

Re: cam pulley

my engine is 189hp SR20VE, not 20V VE, just using the 20v cam.
cant normal sr20ve cam gear match with 20V cam shaft?

Re: cam pulley

Any cam gear that fits a DE, will fit a VE. JWT or Nissan Motorsports are the best ones, becuase they can not slip.

Re: cam pulley

just because youve swapped the cam doesnt mean you swapped the new 20v cam gear in as well. if your using 189hp motor cam gears, u can use jwt. 20v cam gears will not be swappable because the chain has too many tightly knit links and more camgear teeth

Re: cam pulley

Try OBX,

http://www.obxracingsports.com/

They seem to have these pulleys available, also lots of yummy bits and pieces like overdriven crank puleeys etc...

Good luck,
