I want a 2.0 VE in my 91 SE-R. It has a 5 speed. What is the easiest route?
I live in Warner Robins Georgia. Is there anyone around here (2-300 miles) that can do it? How much does an install usually run?
If I do it my self, I presume I need at least the engine and a JWT ECU. What else? I have another car, but I would hate for the months to go by while I wait for obscure parts to come in from the other side of the earth.
Not trying to flame you or anything, but just about everyone will tell you to search. You probably won't be able to do it yourself, JGYcustoms.com does installations, they are in Atkins, VA. It cost 1100 for the installation. You can probably find a local forum guy with a VE who will be happy to install for much cheaper(like 200-300 dollars, dinner, and a 6 pack). Go to the regional forum and ask if anyone local would want to help
I have searched, read the faq, etc. I was just looking for the low down on the parts and tools I would need on hand. No flame intended, certainly not to you because I appreciate the info about JGY. But isn't it hilarious when a hoard of guys flame newbies for not doing a search, reading the FAQ, etc? I wonder what has wasted more bandwith, repetitive questions or the thirty guys who simply must post "read the faq dummy", etc? Anyhoo, thanks for the info.
if you were closer i would do it for 300 this is the basics
1.good sr20ve
2.decent header
3.intake for lowport
4.jwt,ve,or if you want de ecu depends what maf and inj. you are gonna use
5.something to control the cam switches-greddy mss,msd rpm switches,summit box's
6.good exhaust-not 100% needed but very good to have one if you want the motor to breath.
7.extra wire,connectors,and the right tools.
i bought my engine from www.nyblock.com runs excellent, very clean, and came with ve ecu.
Yeah, you can run the de or ve ecu stock. If you want a very basic setup. If you run the ve ecu just make sure your motor comes with the ve maf (actually you should try to get this annyway, because its better than the de maf, especially if you go jw)
With the ve ecu you can plug the selonoids into the ecu and it will switch the cams. However, you get a 7200 rpm limit. With the de ecu you get a 7,500 rev. limit which you shouldn't surpass anyway unless you have upgraded cames, but you use the de maf and ve or de injectors, pluss a cam switching device. Or go with the jw reprogram. I you go this route i would suggest getting no rev. limit and using another device to control it, because if you get cams later you may be able to raise the rev. limit.
Or, final option. Get an sr16ve ecu which has a 8,200 rev. limit for $300 (from Andreas, JGY or storm performance) and get a cam switching device. Just be careful, don't rev. your 20ve that high unless you have the sr16ve cams, or get a rev. limit add on device untill you get upgraded cames.

If you don't have a good idea of what tools you need for a engine swap then you need to plan on pleny of challenges doing the swap. If you read my writeup on how to do it on a B14 it gives you a good idea of what is involved. Its only small detail changes from the B13 to the B14. The major work is the same.

Its really going to be hard for anyone to give you help, when you have this attitude after just joining a forum. Plenty of people have done this swap, and posted parts of it, and problems they have had.

on a scale of 1-10 10 being almost imposssible to do, how hard is the swap to a b13?

I'm just finishing up my clutch job and it seems there's just a few more bolts holding up the engine. So i would assume that a VE swap is pretty straight forward and simple. Local "Indy Import Performance" wants $1200 for the swap .... HA
