VE head on a DET?

I searched but didn't find much. Is the VE head compatible with the DET block? A VVL DET would be nice. I really don't want to drop the cash on a VET or a VE just to rob it of the head for my car. Also whats it going to do to the compression ratio? If its a stupid question then ignore me.

Re: VE head on a DET?

Give Andreas a call. He has a separate VVL head floating around from time to time. With a little extra time and patience, it should work.

Why not just boost the VE?

Re: VE head on a DET?

Because I have a Strong DE but I'd like to be able to put a VTEC sticker on my car. No seriously. I love the low end/midrange of the T25..... BUt the top end lacks a bit. I wish I never sold hte C2 cams and just bought some cam gears. Oh well. I'll try some S4's until I can get a VE head and look into it further.

I'm a little confused but if I understand you correctly and you're looking to build a turbo VVL motor with better top end than a T25 will provide, why not get the VE motor, install some lower-compression pistons, and then go nuts with the snail? Seems like that would be easier than fitting the VE head on a DET bottom end.

Re: VE head on a DET?

Your probably right but I'm content with the motor I have now. If it dies.... I may try that.

Re: VE head on a DET?

Just get a T28BB off a s15 silvia. Best of both worlds - close to, or better than the t25 response while holding power nicely to red line. In aus they wind them out to around 220wkws, i suppose thats a rough 300whp

Re: VE head on a DET?

Or a GT30. A little more expensive but spool as fast as a regular T28 and will make hella-power!

Re: VE head on a DET?

stick with your DET man, once you build it up, add some S3 cams and gears, some other stuff, you'll be all set, especially with a good turbo
my turbo PrecisionTurbo's SC61, 10lbs boost by 3000rpm, almost 20lbs by 4000
cant beat it in an $825 turbo, ball bearing, 76trim stage 5 wheel, .63 A/R, etc

stats here
Precision's line of T3/T4 turbos for Sport Compact vehicles comes standard with Precision's TA31 style exhaust housings with a 5-bolt discharge side in A/R's of .48 or .63. SC61 comes with the GT wheel with a 2.795" inducer and 2.437" exducer (76 trim).
Available with or without internal wastegate. Each turbo comes with a 360-degree race bearing center section and a T04E compressor cover with a 3-inch inlet and 2-inch outlet. Larger T04S cover with 4-inch inlet and 2.5-inch outlet available at an extra charge. SC61 has a 61mm compressor wheel that has a 2.416" inducer and 3.227" exducer (56 trim). Supports up to 680-hp at the flywheel with proper tuning.

they come HIGHLY regarded for the price.

Re: VE head on a DET?

try s4's w/ your t25. made for a cool looking power band on my car. the t25 would drop off around 5500-6000rpms and then the power band would come back up and build till near redline.

The VE head will bolt on. What you have to do to the head is block the passage from the block(the galley that goes to the solenoids) and run an external oil line.

Do u have a pic of where to weld the tranny case? If I can see it or get good detail on how to do it Ill do it myself instead of paying some other guy to lay a line down my tranny for 150 bukks >=(

Re: VE head on a DET?

so basicly all you have to run is supply and return lines for the selonids and you can use VE head? That's pretty simple.
