What kind of responses do you guys get when people find out whats under your hood the mighty sr20ve. For example at the track or just at the hang out spot.

When I owned mine most never gave it a second glance or had any idea what they were looking at. But then again I ran with BMW's, Porsche's, Vettes etc so I was always the little engine that could....and did in many cases
Well out of all the people that saw my ve equipped nx at Carlisle maybe 4 people seemed to notice anything about the engine.
Of course Jim's 240 was sitting right next to it heehee. All the kids seem to dig on them these days. "Thats one of those RB JDMs and sh*t dooooooooooood! I saw that sh*t in the fast and the furious yo!"

To most (SR20-uneducated) people, it looks like the engine that came with the car. With the exception of a few extra wires, the "NEOVVL" on the valve cover, and a lugnut-spaced throttle cable bracket (don't laugh - it works!), even some SR20-educated people would probably think it's the stock engine, with a kewl powder coated valve cover!
Last meet I went to, one person knew what it was. Then again there, it seemed like if you didnt have a turbo, it was just another engine. Fine with me though. Atleast I know whats under there.
This is the same with turbo. Not many decent well-modified cars around here. Having a turbo Sentra definitely sticks out. I am getting a lot of attention from local high school ricers.
I've been to a few events and before I got my license plate, no one ever knew. My normal exhaust is VERY quiet and you really can't hear it switch out the exhaust, and the intake just sorta changes, so it's not like a Honda vtec switch that most people are used to. There were a couple Spec V guys at the track (the one time I went) and they both had a good amount of mods and I'd easily pull away from them. They came over and looked and were like damn that's quick, what do you have done (and my hood was popped too). It's VERY stealthy if the install is clean.... even with all the goods showing =)
I have worked on my car at work and none of the techs even look twice at my car. The only reason they know anything's different is because I've mentioned it to them, and they look at cars all day long
They see a FMIC and they go apesh*t, my oil cooler doesn't mean anything to them... oh well, their loss
when people look at my engine bay they just look dumbfounded all i tell them its a stock engine, the only reason why everyone looks at my car is cause its loud at idle for some reason and extremely loud at 7k+ rpms, and i still have my stock piping. but i do get respect from the 6 and 8 cylinder guys and envy from the vtec guys, this is what they say "i never knew nissan was packing that much power in front wheel drive cars."
Oh yeah and racing vtec hondas, it's pleasing to see the look on their faces when their jaw drops when their vtec kicks in, and then they hear my cams switch over.

Yeah nobody, has ever taken a second look at my engine, even when I tell them its an sr20ve, they just say "oh cool" like pretending to know what it is, but you can tell they have no idea, or they think you said sr20de, and they might have heard of sr20 before.
One time when I was having my oil changed (I was on vacation, otherwise I'd do it myself) the guy said something about my huge header and piping (20ve manifold)
But yeah like a couple other people said before no one really cares unless you have a turbo and a fmic, then everyone's like "daammmnnn he's hard"
i know this is probly about ve motor but i get tons of attention with my det swap. 'turbo sentra bucket' boostin! i would love to have a ve powered car cause out here no one has em and lots of honda owners talk down on them cause they say its nissan trying to be vteced
ahh dun you just love it when honda people think they were the first that had variable cam switching?? they get all cocky. they werent very cocky when i was right next to them waving bye
I got lots of ooohhs and aahhhs at the strip one time when our car club hosted the event and the scrutineers were all club members who had'nt seen a VE ( I'd just got it) and they nearly creamed themselves but hey they're SR20 fans .
