Installation procedure
I couldn't find the website link for this, but I had it saved on my computer. Ignore the wiring colors for the headlights as they aren't right if you have a 91-92. I hope this helps. Any questions feel free to PM me.
The Corner Lights
Those of us who have a 93-94 model year Sentra got lucky on the headlights. Our headlight wiring plugs directly into the new bulbs with no need to swap plugs the way you must on 91-92 cars. So, no problem there.
The corner lights on US cars function as both turn signals and running lights. As such the bulb has two filaments, and the plug has three wires - ground, running, and turn signal. Click the thumb to the right to see a picture of what I'm talking about.
The problem, at least for me, is that the Mexican corners are set up to function ONLY as turn signals. The bulb has only one filament and two wires - ground and power. The running light duties are covered by the small round lamps inset into the headlight assembly (we'll get to those later).
Probably the easiest way to overcome this problem is to use the new headlights and grille with the stock US corner lamps. No fuss, no muss. However, the Tsuru corners have a slightly different look, they're newer and therefore not scratched, and since you have to take the corners off to get the headlights off anyway, I took a different approach. It's surprisingly simple, and completely does away with any of the extra wiring or relays I thought would be necessary.
The key is that the corner bulb holders for the Mexican and US cars are the same size. Click the pic to the right. Mexican holder on the left (black) and US on the right (gray).
Those among you who are very observant will have noticed that the Mexican holder has three lock tabs, while the US holder has four. This means that you can't just plug the US holder into the Mexican housing. The wiring harnesses aren't interchangeable either, so you can't plug the US harness into the Mexican bulb holder..
So, what to do? It's surprisingly simple. Take a close look at the tabs; you'll note that the largest tab on each (lined up at 12 o'clock on each) holder is the same size. What I did was to cut the other three tabs off and voila, the US bulb holder will lock into the Mexican housing easy as you please. The pic on the right here shows one holder unchanged, and one with three tabs removed. I used a wirecutter, but I imagine that a dremel tool or even a file would work equally well; I was afraid that the plastic would be brittle and crack but there was no trouble.
The real plus is that this reduces the wiring you have to do as well. Let's move on to that, shall we?
The Wiring
You'll notice in the first picture above that the US corner lights have three wires. The base colors are black (ground), red (parking) and green (turn signal). This is where the wiring for the round inset lamp must be spliced in. The connectors for these lamps have two wires each, one white and one green. The green is power and white is ground. You will need to extend these wires about 8 inches; I made them too long but that won't hurt anything either. I used green for green and black for white, as you can see in the pics. Basically you must splice the green wire on the connector to the red wire on the corner wiring harness, and the white wire on the connector to the black wire on the corner harness. You can use whatever kind of splices you like; SOLM recommends soldering the connections but I used crimp connectors with no problems. I imagine that spade connectors would work well for ease of removal. I would stay away from the Scotchlok style connectors though as I doubt the wire loom would fit over them.
After this wiring is complete, the small round lamps will come on as part of the parking light system, i.e. the first click on the light switch on the stalk. I've included a couple pictures to the right of the wiring, and then one of the finished wiring covered in wire loom.
Note - you could wire these small lights as turn signals rather than parking lights, you would just need to splice the power (green) into the green wire on the corner harness rather than red.
