No, greg I do not have a airbag in my car. I replaced the the wheel with an aftermarket wheel. "This topic is about cars that have the 'bags, such as the NX." I thought this thread was about "Getting horn to work when replacing steering wheel w/ aftermarket wheel."

Anyways, "Simply clean up those contacts", does that mean remove the pin, clean out the housing, re-grease the pins, and then put them back in? Sorry, if I'm asking stupid questions. Now does the cruise control have anything to do with the horn working? The reason I'm asking is because it's gone and if I remeber correctly the horn and the cruise control are on the same cable. Thanks Greg for your help. If you could knock some sense into me, I would be grateful. Thanks again. Mike.

Mike, it's actually pretty simple. Since you do not have an airbag, all the contacts are already there. The upper left contact is for your horn, and should already have 12V there. If you have a proper adapter, your horn should already work. The other two contacts are, presumably, for your cruise control. Of course, without the proper wiring and button it won't work.

When I wrote "clean the contacts" I mean just make sure there's not a lot of dirt and grease on those to ensure you get a good electrical connection.

Have you tried bolting on the wheel to see if the horn works? Check for 12V on that contact, and if you've got 12V there and it still doesn't work I'd suspect your wheel adapter. - GA

So I'm assuming this is the case for 93 and up cars... and 91-92 they wired the horn through the interior harness? Sorry if I am confused. I am about to do an aftermarket wheel & momo hub in the 91 nx and want to be clear.

Also, the link below is broken now

I drilled out the hole above, saw the brass/copper contact back there, but there was no power to that contact. Reason is, the power for the horn comes through the airbag circuit, the yellow-jacketed cabling with the flat connectors. When you install a Momo adapter you have to remove the clockspring, thus you lose the power wire going through the column.

The solution, thanks to Ray Kawski and Matt Ostlund, is to run the yellow/green wire from the spiral (clickspring) harness to the back of the wiper stalk assembly. That will provide power to the brass/copper contacts inside, to which the spring and the pin you create will touch.

I did this last night and it works as advertised...
