let's jump back to the k&n for a sec... the lookup provided at advance lists the 92 highport filter as pn# hp1003. however, the cross reference on the k&n packaging lists the interchange as purolator l14476 (lowport), and it's physicly the same size as the 14476. threads are the same, length is not. there's also what seems to be an anti-drainback valve. anyone have an opinion on the use of this particular filter?

I'm confused. Autozone lists the M1-103 Mobil 1 filter for my son's '94 SE-R. Yet the first post in this thread says it should be a M1-108. I know that his car is the low port type. Just confused about which filter to have him use. Thanks.

All B-13 SE-R's use the same filter. On a nissan filter it's a 53J00 part #. It is the original motor I take it?

Yes, original motor. Is the B13 the 2.0 liter? He has the 2.0 I'm sure of that.
Well some were 1.6's your sure it's a SE-R? Doe's it have disc's on all 4 wheels and on the block in the front where the tranny bolts up it will be stamped SR20.
Absolutely positive it's a 2.0 liter, dohc. Has 4 wheel discs. No doubt about it being a SE-R. He is very clear that it's different than a "regular" Sentra (he points out all the non-SE-R's and says his is better). So, is the first post in this thread that says the low port needs a M1-108 correct? Autozone doesn't even stock that number.
Which Bosch do you use? I agree that Fram are generally not the best filters. However, I use the Fram HP4 racing filter on my Corvette. It is a completely different animal than any other Fram filter. And I think it's the best filter to use on a high performance small block Chev.
I hate to ask what seems like a stupid question, but I really need to know the answer here...I just got a 1991 SE-R...I go to the local Nissan dealer and ask for an oil filter for my car. They give me a 15208-9E000. I say "I thought it was supposed to be a "53J00" not a "9E000" and they tell me that the numbers have changed. But what I see written here leads me to believe otherwise, and that since my car is a '91 and has a high port sr20de, that this filter they sold me is unsafe and I run the risk of it blowing off. Please advise!

They are wrong. 53J00's are not interchangable with 9E000's. With the 9E's you do run the risk of filter pop off.

They look the same but the thread pitch is off and is a few mm larger. it will sit tight while you sit there, but once you run some pressure through it it will pop off. The 9E000 is interchangable with the 65F00 though..

The other issue is the "cone" direction. On the 53J the cone comes out towards the base of the filter, on the 9E/65F it goes towards the top of the filter.
