HOW TO: Pull highport intake manifold and replace the coolant passage

1) Start the car and pull the fuel pump fuse, let the car die. After it dies crank it 3-4 times to releave pressure.

2) Remove all intake piping going to the throttle body.

3) Drain your coolant, the throttle body has coolant going to it. DE or DET (i have them on my U13)

4) Disconect all fuel lines going to throttle body, there might be a lilttle fuel in the lines so dont smoke .

5) Pull the fuel rail with injectors, make sure not to nick or cut the O rings at the end of the injctors or you will have leaky injectors, there are 4 12mm bolts holding it to the intake manifold.

6) Now you will take off the intake runners, there are 6 12mm bolts and 2 12mm nuts that hold it to the head and 6 (not sure) 12mm bolts and 1 12mm nut holding it to the plenum. Also there are 2 allen wrench bolts holding the throttle cable bracket to the throttle body and the runners. Undo those bolts and pull the runners.

7) Now to get the plenum out of the way, there is 2 12mm bolts on each side of the plenum. On the passenger side they are right under the AAC valve, on my G20 i didnt have to pull it off but if you do there are 4 10mm bolts holding it to the plenum. Undo the 2 bolts on the passenger side, and then undo the 2 right under the throttle body, after you disconect the coolant lines and 2 vacum lines the plenum will lift right off.

8) Now to get the coolant passage out, just undo all the clamps from the rubber hoses, and there is a 12mm bolt holding it to the head, its right in the middle of the head, you will see the bracket. BTW if you dont have a swivel socket do yourself the favor and go pick one up now because you will be pissed later, there is no way of getting in there with a normal 12mm and a extension. Then undo the 2 12mm bolts holding the thermostat housing to the head. Voila you got them off.

9) Now just reinstall everything, be sure not to mess anything up and take your time. You wont need new manifold gaskets unless you beat the old ones up, they are metal gaskets so no need for new ones.

10) Intake manifold bolts are only 13-15ft-lbs

any questions pm or IM me
