LOL.. You like? Well I felt the need because I like the fact that I can actually look at the general idea of whats going on. When doing a new project that I don't know crap about. And pics always help. Thanx for the good feed back ***. I appreciate it. I'm going to make more as I do new projects. Actually I'm working on a new system setup this weekend that I'm going to take pics of. So stay posted.
That looks way too easy. I've been itching to do something on my car for a while, and since the Progress stuff still hasn't come in yet it looks like it is time to play around with the electical system of my car again. On the B13, is the center wire still the one to splice? Hpro 123 said the connectors are different, but I'm guessing you just pop it out differently? Thanks for the great post!

Thanx. I did notice a bit of a difference in it. Milage and performance wise. I don't see why not. Do you still have the stock harness? If so go right ahead and do it. Can't hurt.
Where the pics of the DMM showing you had a bad ground at the MAF or before and after specs of the voltage, do you have any?
Didn't take any and didn't use one. Just for the fact that its just a ground. And nothing could be bad from finding a better one. And the fact that it was the last and final mod in my search for better gas milage and stock performance.
bad MAF grounding is a common problem for us. Not all cars are affected, but nonetheless, it doesnt hurt to do this simple mod. Personally, ive never tested my MAF readings to see if mine is grounded well enough, but im still gonna do this trick just because its free and easy, plus when it comes to electrical stuff, a GOOD ground always helps. good job on the write up and good pics too
Quick question for those of you with B13's that have done this. When I opened up the tube (not electrical tape) that the wires run in on their way to the plug, I found two wires, a grey and white one that seems to be about 10 gauge thickness, and an orange/blue one that is around 16 gauge. Am I missing something, or is one of those the ones I splice my new ground into like mentioned above? Thanks,
I finally finished. Turns out that the grey and white wire that was thick actually had two of the three wires (including the ground) running inside of it. It even had metal wire inside of it, like a normal wire, running alongside the other two wires. But that metal wire didn't go anywhere. I wonder why they did that? Anyway, I got it all hooked up and ready to go. Thanks for the great write-up!

Its called shielding, and the shielding runs back almost to the ecu where it branches off to many other grounds, some of teh ground go to actual ECU pins and from there go to ground points of teh chassis, its important you keep these shielded wired seperate or else you'll get a short to ground.
