Chris: That is beautiful !

Can you tell a bit more about the install of the boost gauge ? Maybe a rear view of the panel ? Some pics of the finished product in place ?
I'm much into gauges myself. I will relocate my radio and install a din-panel with 3 gauges instead. I would like to insatll my Autometer temp-gauge instead of the stock one. Your write-up is an excellent guide...

yes, please give details about the boost guage. You mentioned cutting some traces but finally working it out.

Details please! I want to add an oil temp guage but I don't want an A-pillar setup or a pod sitting on the dash.

On the P11-144 Primera, both OEM uel level and water temp gauges are positioned next to each other at the right hand top side of the cluster. Water temp furthest right. What I intend to do is take the latter out and substitute it with Autometer electric water temp gauge Sport Comp 2 1/16 model. It will be kind of delicate, because I don't want to damage any circuits in the process. My car is OBDII; could I get a CEL for taking the OEM water temp gauge out ? Anyy suggestions about what to do and what not ?
Furthermore, replacing the radio/cassette player with a din-plate and 3 gauges, I will have to relocate the radio/cassette.
Any suggestions as where to tap-in a vacuum/boost gauge ? I'm running n/a for the time being, so it will be reading vacuum only. Going turbo around summer maybe. If I have ay other concerns on gauges I'll pm ya , OK ?

Thks

I am making a similar center piece for my car, but it will only hold 2. I do give oyu props on boost gauge. The looks awesome in the coolant spot. Looks good, man.

Nice work Chris! How many tubes of silicone did it take to hold that boost gauge in though? My plan when I was going to do an Avenir swap, was to just scrap the white portion of the cluster and the circuit board, scrap the OEM harnesses and use a single 30+ pin Molex harness to make all the connections. Cut out the OEM gauge face and glue in a new ABS one that had all my new gauges and lights installed in it. Fab up mounting brackets as necessary. I'm glad I won't have to do all that work.

You know how it goes, the first time is messy, and takes forever. I could bang one out allot quicker now, and with allot less silicon. But hey, it's in there nice and firm, all the electrical connections are solid, and it looks perfect from the front.

I am exhausted. I am searching for info on installing a oil pressure gauge on my JDM de. The posts that I have found help me with the gauges, but not where to drill+tap. Frustrating but I know it is probably the pan or somewhere simple . -1 for districtborn.

Re-read post #14.

You don't drill and tap for the oil pressure sensor, it goes in place of the original dummy light sender.

This is my VE, using a Nissport adapter (viewed from above)

And this is my turbo, running off the oil feed line to the turbo

Ver nice write up and pics, but I was wondering about the left side of the alternator. Why did it get no love?

Thanks for the compliment. Hmm, not sure about the left side of the alternator though. I used a wire wheel on my bench grinder to clean the alternator up, but the left side does look unloved. I had tried to take it apart, but couldn't get the case disassembled. The front looks good, the right side looks good, so it's a mystery to me.

lol - I just went into the garage and popped the hood.. I definitely could have done a better job on that left side. Well, I need to replace the left side motor mount bracket, because one of the holes is stripped, and I'll spend some quality time with the the alternator when it's out!

Your engine looks very nice, I thought it just looked like you didn't paint/polish the left side of the alternator cover like the right side.

Would that panel still fit with autometer gauges?
