How To: Identify cams with a caliper

Well here you go, this is just a base reference to help you identify cams using a dial (or digital) Caliper.

All measurements were taken from the #1 lobe on the intake/exhaust cam (nearest the gear). Ill get around to measuring the exhaust cam when time permits.

All measurments are the TOTAL HEIGHT of the lobe and TOTAL WIDTH of the lobe. These measurements are not gonna tell you squat about lift and duration, only aid in identifying cams that may be questionable.

95 Stock Lowport Cam (base refrence)
I = 1.494" x 1.260"
E =

91 Cams
I = 1.512" x 1.256"
E =

JWT S3 Cams
I =
E =

JWT S4 Cams
I = 1.566" x 2.670"
E = 1.566" x 2.670"

Once again, this is only to identify the cam you may/may not have, nothing more. Hope this helps someone out. Feel free to add to this short but important list.

Edit: Put this in the wrong section, can a mod please move it to the technical information library.
