Thanks man! I woulda been pissed if I went all the way out there and didn't have the right tools to finish the job! Is there any other cool electronic devices I can pull and adapt to my B13? Elec trunk/gas lid popper maybe?

Just a little added piece of info: The little black plastic tab on the passengers side air box that it was indicated earlier that you have to snap off, Don't Snap It Off! Its part of the retainer that adds stability to the motor. It may take a little manuvering, but the motor will slide in underneath it. Other than that, every thing went exactly as it was laid out in the write up! Outstanding Job!

I got the pieces i need to do this, will be a coming weekend project. The thread provides allot of information. I have but only one question (for now),
My car has AC, I am assuming that the wire taps still allow the AC to work? I am not talking about splicing for power as mentioned in post #1, just talking about the AC working in general...
How do you change the bulbs in this unit? I am just going to throw in fresh one's now before I get it all installed, just to find out the old ones are "not bright"?
thanks and hope when I start this, help will still be flowing...
Jake
Oh, and Pick and Pull has the 50% going on this weekend, i managed to get the motors and dash control all for 9 Bucks!!!!

I did this in my car a while back and the AC works fine. The only downside to this install, is when you put the selector in the defroster mode, it opens the fresh air vent. I normally use the selector in the defroster mode to keep the air from blowing in my face, so this causes the AC to not be as cold as it would before, or you have cold or hot air blowing in the car. Other than that, I think it's an improvement over the stock sliders.

Thanks Eric96ser, good to know about the AC. I was thinking that it would but just wanted to make sure.
Got any info on how to change the light bulbs in the control unit? I am going to assume that the bulbs are 194's like every other bulb on the car, but i dont see a " socket" to change them.
Other than taking it appart and looking at the bulbs, then taking them to radio shack to get new ones, no....if I had one in front of me I would investigate. Maybe go to the pick'n'pull and rip one appart?

PNP... Good call....
Was just thinking someone in here had done it already....
Low and behold the FSM showed me how to do it. Three bulbs, kind of weird though, they "screw" into the back part and the bulb sits ontop of stantions... the bulbs themselves are pretty small. its going to be fun finding those suckers......
Hello, I need to change my HVAC panel, so I'm considering this, but so far I only managed to find a HVAC panel without an A/C button, it is possble to adopt the button from my old lever style panel or not? It looks it could be done....
Also, for a future experiments - I was thinking about the climate control - It seems that the W10 avenir had one (see page 2 of this thread - first post by downunderNX), so it may be possible to install that in the N14/B13 too, so what about using parts of this tutorial for S13?
The AC plug can also have an orange wire, instead of the green-white wire as mentioned in the HOW-TO. This was in an NX, mind you.
For the illumination of the panel, you can just cut the plug from the lever-style-control panel (it has a red and black wire), and attach it to the new wiring. This way you won't have to cut the plug on the main loom.
As for positioning the motors; just switch them to whatever setting was when you still had the lever-type panel in it. I found that by setting it to recirc. I couldn't mount the door motor, since I had originally set that switch to external air.
So I just pulled this off this week, it seems in europe models the central vents are operated by the mode door motor too.
I sourced all the parts for about $60 including the plastic boxes from P10 - I recommend that, as it helps a lot with positioning the motors.
I didn't cut off the plastic pin, the motor just went in fine.
I also had an orange AC wire, and you can reuse the AC switch from the old lever control style HVAC, I got the push control withou an AC switch and my old one just snapped in.
And just for the record - don't use the cigaret lighter for testing if the dashboard will light up - I blew about 10 fuses that way scared that I will destroy half of my electric installation before I realized that it is the cigarette lighter directly grounded doing that
