HOW TO!
B14 SEAT MOD USING NX2K RAILS

So you own a B14 and feel your sitting too high, this mod will lower your butt around an inch.
Parts Needed:
• Your B14 chairs with stock rails.
• Rails from a donner nx2k, I used an nx1.6k actually!
Tools Needed:
• 14mm, 12mm, Phillips and flat screwdrivers, pliers, and a visegrip.
• Drill with decent bits. Power drill > battery opterated….
• Tap (metric or standard is fine, make sure you have short bolts..)
• White lithium grease
Optional:
• Welder
• Dremel w/ accessories. (I used mine on one rail, it worked but not worth the effort)
I opted to start this mod on my passenger chair first. Just incase I needed my car in a hurry or I found it too low afterwards. Be prepared to start and finish same day, it will get confusing. Maybe I’m too careful at times, who knows…
There’s the stock chairs, take your 14mm, remove the anchors at the four corners and lift the chair out. The Phillips is also used here to remove any plastic trim covering the 4 anchor points, and the side of the seats.
Remove the stock rails, be warned, the spring on the rail is dangerous!! The 12mm, and 14mm will be used. Make sure to note the left and right rails. Now the job at hand is for the rail inner rail, with the seatbelt buckle. We want to split both rails and make a hybrid. Nx2k bottom and a stock b14 top.
The outer is a quick replacement, but, for the inner grab the drill. I did my best to only drill the parts I wasn’t going to reuse to make assembly a little easier.
The top on the picture is the full b14 rail. The lower is the nk2k upper half, no longer needed. Note the holes in the right hand side on the nx2k. That is where there were 2 dimples were pressed. They act as stoppers. Not any more! And the base of the nx2k is what we want. So we next will drill some of the stoppers out of that as well so the top will roll out and get replaced with the b14 upper rail. (B14 is shown above ** disassembly).
So here I have my nx2k mounting rail attached to the b14 upper rail. Note the bearings inside are simple, 2 balls and a long drum style bearing on the bottom. They have their own dimples or stoppers to keep them in certain areas. (See upper rail they mount on) If they were not spread enough the chair would be like a rocker. Yours may look a little different than pictured. I didn’t drill the rear dimples out, as my aim with a smaller drill proved I can’t measure well; this is where I used the dremel. It works but I would have like to drill, good thing I can weld and once I was confident it was correct, I placed two tacks like a pro. Place it into a vice and make sure its sliding to full stops both ways. I had 4 bolts in mine but had used only 2 to get a full motion out of the rail again. I may have missed a stopper but it rolls smooth for not greasing it yet, and it will be much better when bolted in the car and being adjusted with my hands but the chair.
Back on my chair, don’t forget that little wire and connects the handle for the slide action! It hooks 1st, than bolt the rail to the chair!
There’s both installed on the chair. The outer was a quick bolt on, again watch that spring! It’s like a loaded gun if you’re not careful!!! There's only 2 bolts for the outer rail, and you must slide the spring loaded rail to access one at a time. I will recommend that you get the bottom, and bring the spring to rest, and get the top bolt. Repeat to install. Note the little wire on this rail, remove the e-clip and remove it because it is ever so short and will not allow your slides to lock if you do manage to get it on the nx2k rail. I tried it, I have not made a solution yet, a trip to the yard and I may pull one from a b13 chair and hope it’s a bit longer. So there you have it. Install your trim panels on the chair and take it back out to the car. The four anchor points and there covers. Test to make sure it slides, reclines and folds for passengers still.
