coach, what sort of torque is your setup yeilding? As a member reminded me on PGA today, it's the torque that breaks the gearboxes not just the HP.

How do you figure difficulty in shifting? I didnt follow you there at all.

cheers
Mark

It is hard to setup a shifter for a trans and motor that is made to be in front when you mount it behind you. He wll have to do some crazy stuff to get it to work I would think. But prolly not to bad.

My motor has 305ft. lbs at 15psi.

What'd the guy do? Remove the front shafts and plug the openings in the tranny?

My dream is to get the suspension and drivetrain from a GTiR along with pics of how they mount up and measurements, and I'll build a CF monocoque body to mount it all up to. Honestly, the iffyest part about it would be that I'd want at least a drivers side airbag, and retrofitting something from an existing car could be dangerous.

I'd like to see what he was using. We had the GTiR dog gearset from PAR and it was destroyed with 280 whp. He must drive it like a grandma.

Brent I think he customised the gearbox off the GTiR to run it just where is it... It wasnt a case of moving the engine to the backseat like the MicraR.... (if this is what you were saying O.o ) I think it was a case of welding up plugs where the front shafts were as Toolapcfan mentioned. A WHOLE LOT LESS WORK... lol

You would think that with all the b13 and b14 members on here, that there would be more people workin together on this to get it workin. Im suprised that of all you mechanics not ONE can successfully get an AWD set up goin with the DET. I wish I new more about the tranny part of an automobile. Im still in the learnin stage. By the way... Im just givin you guys a hard time.

hey if anyone has the hook ups and knows anyone in the tunertransformation on speedtv they can help. ONe episode they took a toyota fwd and turned it into a rwd drifter. i'm trying to get on that show as well but dont know how that will go. yeah so if they could do that to that ugly car there has to be something for us. i had a future plan once i get the money, (i mean money) i'm gonna swap my b14 200sx with a AWD skyline maybe one day, keyword "maybe one day!"

It would be nice if people could actually build a strong FWD-AWD set up. Then share withothers.

I dont think anyone will EVER do this. Here in the states. Ive seen a GTiR in a thread owned by someone in PA. Thats as close to AWD as we get around here. I think im gonna have to talk to someone in Sport Compact Car Mag to see if they will take the challenge... > : )

it's not that hard, to do. with the necessary equipment anything can be done right, you just might not have the necessary equipment. That's just a matter of money, so if you got money you can do this swap. just a little math, creativity some extra help, welding, peiceing parts together and knowing how it works and you'll have it done in a matter of months. I can tell you who did coaches, awd swap and their opinion on the swap was "I'll never do it again!!!"

Without being mean, I only have one idea to add to this, which i consider, a pointless thread

HOW TO: NoWD conversions and how to make your b14 fly to the moon
