what bulbs did you use to make yours look like this?
the red 194's that you find at the parts stores. i think i picked mine up from schucks (checker/schucks/kragen). they were only i think $2.99 for a package of two. something like that anyway.
I pulled my cluster about five minutes ago ('92 B13) and the speedo cable under the dash is hidden inside a black square tube that looks exactly like an air duct. I had to reach up by the gas pedal, counterclockwise around the tube, and follow it to the rear of the cluster to unhook the cable. Buckets of fun.
And while I've got it out, back of the B13 cluster.
I did my dash a few days ago and to be honest with you guys, it was a piece of cake. The 200SX SE-R 1998 dash is very easy to remove and change the bulbs.
If you disconnect the positive lead off the battery (which you should always do when messing with the electrical system) you don't have to worry about blowing fuses or frying anything.

It's actually negative... I had a thread about this last year and after pages of flaming it was still negative first.
Your pic below is a really good comparison. The white colour is the same as what I'd like to have. I know you mentioned you bought them off eBay from a preferred seller of yours... could you PM me details?
Question, the OEM bulbs are a yellow colour with the blue skin covering the bulb to change the colour output? To get a white light behind the dash does that mean the bulb colour should have blue in it as well? Or were your bulbs just a super bright plain white?
