Yeah. I did the exact opposite of this. I put the b13 seats in my b14. Wow, what a great difference. The b13 SE-R seats fit perfectly and they buckle into my seat belt

Here it is: (Note, this was done in maybe 2002 or 2003 latest. The digicam was not so great then.)
200SX Seat Install to NX
Writen by: Ian Lyn (Pretty White)
Photo by: Q (Lonewolf) and owner.

OK, today we have decided to swap a set of tired NX2000 seats for some updated 200SX SE-R seats. We are going to re-use the NX rails because the 200SX SE-R rails are taller than the stock NX2000 rails and they will make you sit taller in the car and possibly hit your head on the ceiling. Not good if your above 5'7" or more (I am 6'4", so you know I definitely need all the room I can get). We were going to document the removal of the 200SX seats from their rails, but since it is almost identical to removing the NX seats from it's rails, you can use this as a point of reference. They will be removed in the same manner. No need to waste film either.

Tools needed:
– 3/8" ratchet
– 12 and 14mm socket (small) – 3/8 extension
– Flathead screwdriver
– Phillips
– Pair of pliers.

These are the stock NX seats as you can see are in horrible condition. They definitely need replacing.

First you have to remove the seatbelt buckle from the old seat.

Next, you must remove the seat trim around the seats with a phillips screwdriver.

If you pull up the fabric on the side of the seat you will find a 14mm bolt under there. There are actually 4, but we will get to that further in the install.

Reach under the seat side (you may want to unzip the NX seats to get a better view of what you are doing) and unbolt the seats with the 3/8" and the 14mm socket.

Using the bottom of the palm of your hands, hit the ratchet till the screws loosen up. You are doing this to avoid cutting your knuckles up on that round spring.

This is the spring I am telling you to avoid with your knuckles.

This is the seat unzipped for better access to the screws.

Once you unbolt all the screws the seat back just comes right up off the rail. You want to do only one section at a time in order to maintain the integrity of the seat rails. Otherwise it would just collapse and be a PITA to reshape.

Once they are off you just throw those POS's
in a corner somewhere!

Now you are ready to install the back of the 200SX seat to the NX rail. You want to line up the bolts with the bolt holes and hand screw them in to avoid cross threading. If you cross thread these seats bolts, you are up sh*ts creek!

You will have to pry the seats sides up by hand to get to the screw bolts. Once they are hand tightened down, slip the 3/8 with 14mm socket (a small one) under the foam and tighten down. Make sure the palm of one hand is holding down the ratchet while the other turns it to make sure it doesn't reverse turn, defeating your purpose.

Now you are ready to remove the seat. This is the easy part. You will need the extension here for torque.

Remove the 12mm on each side of the rails.

Walla, the NX seats is out of the rails and the second swap is ready to be done.

Now you see why I stressed that the seats be taken apart one section at a time.

Now you need the flathead screwdriver to pry the spring clips apart. Remember the locations of the spring clips on the NX seats because the 200SX seats will fall right into the NX base. The reason you are not using the 200SX base is because the 200SX base and the NX base have two different moutning points.

Then you throw that POS seat into
the other pile of POS seat parts.

Now drop the 200SX seat into the NX base
and reclip the clips with a pliers. The mounting points will be identical with the exception of 2 or 3 clips
which are unecessary.

Rebolt the NX base to the NX rails.

The finished product (well almost)

Now the covers are ready to be re-assembled. You cannot reuse the NX trim covers because it is not contoured to the 200SX seat.

There are brackets that need to be bent down in order to make the NX plastic trim fit over the seat rails. Those brackets were there to hold the NXseat fabrics to the frame.

The seat is almost done.

Put on the other side plastic trim.

Reattach the seatbelt warning harness to the base.

The final product! A 200SX seat is swapped without torching or disassembling the NX rails which are a PITA to do and a waste of time to me. This method will work for the passengers side seat as well. The exact same swap!

The finished product. Like Night and Day. And more supportive. Look at the difference for yourself.

Great writeup Ian. I used this info when I did my G20 to B13 swap. If it wasn't for you and Lonewolf, I'd still have the old seats in there.

Just a note to those doing G20 seats in a B13. The G20 seat pan is the same as the B13 seat pan with two exceptions. The first is the G20 pans have bolster extentions tacked welded on, creating a higher support for the bottom cushion. The second is the G20 pan to rail mounts (located on the bottom of the pan) are different than those on the B13 pan (on the sides). Most people will just take G20 cushion and put it on the B13 seat pan and call it a day. This will work...but..what will happen is the cushion won't have enough metal support to give the intended "backbone" and the bottom cushion bolsters will feel flimsy and unsupportive. On a leather G20 seat, you may even find yourself sliding around.

The solution to the dilema can be addressed from 2 different angles. The first would be to use the G20 seat pan (higher metal bolsters) and graft on a set of B13 pan to rail mounts. The second approach would be to use the B13 seat pan and graft on the G20 side boltsters. Either way requires drilling out spot welds and either welding or machine screwing the "grafts" on. It's harder to do, but the results are worth it, IMO. The G20 seats in my NX make the car so much more comfortable and more supportive in hard cornering.

Here's a thread in which JohnBrooks and I discuss the two different ways of getting to the same point. http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread....ight=p10+seats
