P11 Transmission $$$ ouch

Well, I tried to find a p11 transmission. Turns out they are near impossible to get and every junk yard I have gotten ahold of has only the open diff versions. I called up the dealer and here's what info I got.

B15 transmission, at my cost ~$1900 and retail is ~$2200
P11 Transmission, at my cost ~$2300 and that is also the suggested retail. The guys at infinite told me that they could have it in about 5-7 days from their warehouse provided they had one in stock.

OR I could use the 6 speed trans from the spec V and do the swap. The only problem with that is there is a lot of modification involved and it would cost even more than that. I would have to use a hydraulic system and convert to the crappy cable shifter. I guess if you wanna be a big player these days you really gotta fork out some $$$ to get where you need to go. I guess all my tax money is going for a transmission either way.

I think with that much money you can do the six speed swap that has been brought up before.

it will take awhile to get the bell hosuing for the Spec V trans to fit SR powered engine. Andreas have been waiting for 6 months now IIRC. as for the P11's trans with open diff, get the vin and have Infiniti check it for you or have them take a picture of it. you can get them for cheaper remember when I got mine, they was selling it as non locking diff. ask for a pick it was locking and I got it for $350 shipped to my door

And there is a lot more modification involved than that. A lot more. I would have to convert the car to a cable shifter as well as a hydraulic clutch setup. I would have to change the axles and hubs and have custom motor mounts made.

Sometimes those junk yards dont know what they have, so your best bet is to go look.

When i started my search for a used LSD P11, I found one local and went to go check it out, got there and after waiting an hour, and finally going out in the yard to find it myself, it turned out to and automatic.

So most time they dont know what they have.

BTW...
I paid 2g for mine from Gregv.
Infiniti dealer quoted me ~2200.
You might still be able to get one from JWW if he is still trying to sell it. KILLER DEAL if you ask me!

I bought mine from Greg V for $850 (+ shipping) or something along those lines.

In early 2009. I could go look up the invoice.

Did they become that scarce in just one (1) year?

Used.

Holy crap, I just got it. You bought a brand new tranny???

On the other hand, with more financial resources (disposable car-mod money) I would consider buying a brand new OEM-Nissan (B15/P11) tranny. It ain't like I am ever selling my Classic.

That is cool as hell. And baller.

Like I said, I would consider it in a heartbeat with a little fatter wallet (if I did not already have the pre-owned B15 tranny installed).

Sh*t, I am intent on purchasing a set of rear OEM-MDM quarter windows from a Forum Member in Mexico. They cost over a quarter of what you paid for the new tranny. And they are merely aesthetic.

Now that I think about it, it was a B15 with LSD. come out of a Sentra SE with the PP package. Just as strong but shorter gearing
