not good

Mine is bad. This is my first, and with the thought of having to pull the head is grueling to think about the extra costs and work. I was really hoping to enjoy this by now.

I am scared to think of their response since it is now like 120 day after I have had the motor. But 60 of it was trying to get it started. Also nnot having an ECU for like 6 weeks was kind of a hang up too.

Any future suggestions on reliabe motor shippers if I don't feel comfortable with TJ's helpfulness on the matter.

My bad on soko I didn't know they were out of business. There's all japanese in florida you could look up. ALso an all japanese in Jersey. I don't think they are linked though. Just have the same name.

All Japanese in florida sells motors for less then the Jersey shop.

Hmm thats weird that a lot of you guys have bad experiences with tiger japanese. I had a good experience with them. I ordered an Avenir and when i got it the only thing that got me a lil worried was that it had water in the spark plug wire holes but i dried them up before i took the spark plugs out. 5 months later my motor is still running strong and its my daily driver.

I believe Soko is still in business, but they moved to California and no longer have operations in Chicago. Last I heard anyways.

I bought a motor. It arrived crunchy with sludge. I took pictures and after 2 weeks I recieved another one. I had to send the old one back (they paid). Second motor was ok, but not super clean.

What angered me:

All they had to do was lift the oil cap to know something was wrong with this motor. It basically showed me that they don't even do the easiest of inspections.

I would buy from them again, everyone makes mistakes.

Wow, that's a pretty basic inspection to have done.

On the bright side, the spark plug gaskets seem to be fine.

I just ordered a det from them for my dd.. I ordered the u13 looking motor and they sent me a u12. The u12 was absolute junk. Intercooler was smashed from shippng and the turbo wouldnt spin if its life depended on it- seized. Obviously they sent the wrong one so I didnt want that junk so the sent me another motor- the det without the intercooler with a red top valve cover.. Everything looked great except there was a lake of water the intake manifold! At least the turbo felt like a champ. Weird thing is that the turbo part number comes back as a w10 avenir turbo not a bb. Bolted right in the b13 with little mods to the crossmember. If anyone buys from tiger I recommend to NOT buy a wiring haress from them because they are ALL cut. I'd buy from them again becase the second motor that I actually ordered as in pretty good condition.. Let's hope it starts!
