you keep mentioning an xtrac, it would be probably would cost the same as the whole build of the car, lol. their are many different auto tranny's out there. i "heard" about someone running an sr powered car w/ a built auto b15 tranny trapping almost 160. but you didn't hear it from me. thats an auto tranny worth looking into, we'll see.

I would suggest that you have CP machine some lateral gas ports on your pistons. You will get a much more consistent ring seal, and less chance of flutter at high RPM. Good insurance, and will extend the service life dramatically..

Dennis, I was thinking about making an adapter kit to bolt on the K-Series trans. What you think about that? There's alot of gear kits out there for them and they already proven to hold up the power.
^^^mark that would sound great . I am having concerns with my build too and think that would be a great alternative depending on costs. I plan to do a 6 spd swap just like Dennis and would consider your idea.

finding a way to convert a power-holding tranny to our motors can very possibly be the spark of a revolution in the quest to keep our (well-built) motors alive and get more aftermarket support.
I volunteer to help that development however I can.
Well I guess I will be the lone ranger I am still wishing and hoping for something to be legal in the SFWD ( what ever it is going to be called ) so I am not going to swap anything tell I see the rules and know what I can get away with.. But I need something my last tran I broke the case 3rd 4th and snaped the input shaft in half and that was not on a big set of tires Ha ha Ha I think it is time to figure something out ...
you would be able to use the 6 speed, sfwd rules say that adapter plates are not permitted, you don't have to use an adapter plate for the specv trans, you do however have to use a different bellhousing that you can get from sr20turbofreak or gregv for less than 400, that bellhousing will bolt right to the sr block and the gear stack from the 6 speed, will bolt to the bellhousing. just like your boy in utah w/ a srt4, srt4's never were offered from the factory w/ an auto trans, but there is an auto trans from an older 2.4l chrysler motor that bolts right to it. no adapter plate.
i'm using a peterson dry sump system, turbo will drain back to one of the scavenge inlets on the pump. i'll have pics up soon, i just don't like to post one or two pics, i'll have a ton in a little bit, should be getting the head back this weekend.
