Higher compression has the advantage of improved gas flow on the exhaust stroke, which means the exhaust gas is hotter and carries more energy when it hits the turbine blades promoting reduced turbo lag.

My LS1 V8 had a pair of GT2871R's with 10.6:1 compression and produced full boost before 1800rpm. No problems pushing 12psi either.

ecutalk with nissan data scan is a great combo, and datascan is not super $$. I use it all the time and have never run into any issues. If you go with a calum ecu, save yourself the trouble and go ahead and get a real time. I have a basic from back when and wishing i had the money to go real time.
