RWD NA SR20DE-T BUILD

first off
i *** many ppl prefer the sr20det to its NA counter part
since owning 240sx for the last 10 yrs Ive been on both sides
and its an awesome car...period....
ka24de vs sr20det....

ka has displacement and good torque ..2.4L...
broke many ka due to heavy foot syndrome

Sr factory boosted 2.0L.......can rev higher...
great daily driven turbo engine....

Sr20det..vs NA sr20de rwd

factory boosted...2.0L
8:5:1 comp
oil squirters.
sodium filled valves
predrilled block for turbo application

NA sr

10:1 comp

high reving like its det counterpart

...........................................
ive owned A SR20DET in an 89 coupe for like 5-6 yrs so
done many swaps....
turbo upgrades...
harnesses...
wiring upgrades..
i decided to take this journey
since i so happened upon a fresh auto sr20de na
it came running in a s13 hatch i bought

Drove it to my shop and started the deconstruction- reconstruction
NOW
then there's two ways to go about the turbo setup
oem sr20det turbo setup...water and oil
or a t3....oil only
i am opting for the det oem setup since for me its cheaper
BUT T3 SETUP ONLY NEEDS OIL FEED AND RETURN
having all the parts would help
i purchased the lines from ebay lol..
cheap but ive have them on my det so they werk for me

KA SS OIL FEEDLINE FOR T25 TURBO...20
SR20DET SS OIL LINES FOR BB....55
REBUILT T25....95...
OEM DET MANIFOLD...FREE
EBAY OVERSIZED OIL PAN...40
OEM SR20DET RWD OIL DRAIN FITTING FROM BLOCK....20..OR FREE
SR20DET WATER HEATER TUBING/PASSAGES...FROM UNDER INTAKE...20...OR FREE
FRESH METAL GASKETS AND LOCKING TABS FOR TURBO, MANI..ETC..20...
EBAY FMIC KIT W BOV...USED...150...
MSD BLASTER...HAD IT....
370CC SR20DET INJECTORS....NEEDED
WALBORO 255 F/P...NEEDED
SAFC2...NEEDED

.....

THE SECRET TO RUNNING A SR FROM A KA HARNESS
...

I INSTALLED A NEW HEAD GASKET JUST TO BE SURE

DONE W HEAD GASKET...

INSTALL HEATER TUBE WITH WATER OUTPUT LINE AND INTAKE

REMOVED WATER INLET PLUG AND INSTALLED FITTING

INTALLED TURBO TO MANI WITH NEW METAL GASKETS NUTS AND LOCKING PLATES...

OIL OUTPUT FROM BLOCK

OIL RETURN

MY COUPE

WAITING ON THE LAST PARTS BEFORE FINAL RECONSTRUCTION
TO BE CONTINUED

Looks like a good start.

Though the S13 SR20DE is 9.5:1, not 10:1. The S14 and S15 is 10:1.

I would recommend that you drill and tap the block for the OEM oil return, having it in the lower oil pan like that is opening you up for a huge oil leak and oil return issues (the oil level can come up past the top of the hose fitting).
And it's not hard to do, especially since you already have the engine out. Though the tap is a little expensive, depending on where you get it from ($20).

^^ I agree.

Seeing as how you changed the sump, anyway, you could have cleaned the block out, easily enough.

That oil drain is way too low like seishuku said. Oil won't drain out if it's sitting in oil. Remap the stock KA ecu with a realtime board and it should live for a long time if tuned right.

Man im doing the same thing. Got a na s15 sr20de and put all my 13 de-t sh*t on it.

I have a freddy pan and thought about tapping exactly where you did but quickly threw out the idea and tapped the de-t location.

The story was too good to be true. Anyways. I had bought a sr with a spun bearing, yadda yadda. Ended up needing close to a grand in machine work. fu*k that, the NA sr became avaliable for 150$. I bought it, put all my sh*t on it. sh*t has great midrange. Started making a knocking sound, think its a wrist pin.
