Hey coach, which cooler are you using off of their site? 11"x11"x1/2? I have a thin style trans cooler that has the ends where it loops around exposed and it kinda sucks the fittings on it are way to small and it restricts the hell out of my system. I go from all 1/2in lines down to like a 3/8in line to get to the heat exchanger.

The guy i bought the pwr intercooler from told me to use that same kind of cooler, he has used many of them and has has good luck with his water to air set ups.

I agree with mounting your water res. in the trunk. I have a jaz 3 gal fuel cell in the trunk and the same pump you mentioned also mounted in the trunk.

I talked to a guy at the local dragstrip a while back and he was using a motorcycle radiator for a heat exchanger and having very good luck with that. He has the same pump, a large spearco water to air core and he is only using his washer fluid res. for water. I dont know how he gets away with only that little bit of water. Considering this set up was on a fully built porsche 928 with a vortec supercharger running around 18psi! that thing was fast. I dont think his set up would work too well at an auto-x or roadrace.

That unit size is what we got for John's car, the I got is the 11x8 one. It seems to be working just fine for me though I have the 4.5x4.5x10 spearco core that does an awesome job! I don't really like the PWR units, they are almost to efficient in terms of pressure drop that the air isn't in there long enough to really get the cooling effects. But, they are popular over seas so they must do the job. I honestly just liked the prices of my IC so I couldn't go wrong there.

If you aren't using A/C anymore, the A/C condensor works great, its big, and bolts right in.

The first post is pretty much my whole setup. The IC came from Turbonetics directly or an authorized Turbonetics dealer. I would look around at alternatives though because they are pricey. The fuel cell is sold at Summitt as their own 1 gallon jr. dragster fuel cell, it is just a rebadge Jazz cell.

I dont like anything that big cause honestly since going water to air my car runs much cooler. TOns more airflow over the radiator. Now if you keep that sh*t up in front of the radiator you get no benefits in engine temp. If you go with a smaller cooler that covers half or less of the radiator then you will get a cooler running engine. That is just what I experienced. Plus the stock AC condensor would need bungs welded on cause I don't think what is on there will work to well.

I acutally bought it used. It doesn't work well for air temperatures though. It seems better suited for water temps. If you want it I'm getting rid of it soon, PM me.

I did have to modify the inlets and outlets with a little ghetto JB welding so the 5/8" hose fit. My car has never had any cooling problems. I figure if the car was designed for AC the factory took into account airflow through the condensor.

Yeah, i guess the ac condesor would work pretty well, but i threw mine away. i may go back to my original heat exchanger, a 2nd gen rx7 oil cooler.

Any of you air/water guys have any comparisons with a air/air intercooler? I am thinking of switching to a air/water intercooler but I wonder if it will be any better then my f-max fmic? My main reason for wanting a air/water is to keep my car under the radar but I won't ditch it if I am not going to get a little better performance.

performance is noticable at specific times. Basically, water to air lets you get your intake charge temps COLDER than ambient air tems (which is where air to air gets down to unless you have an IC sprayer). You do that by putting ICE in to the system. As it melts down it brings the water flowing through the IC to a low temp and you can do that at the track, at the strip or at the dyno. YOu don't really do it on the street and that is where a poor water to air setup will do you wrong. You must use a 2 gallon or larger reservoir and a large pump to keep flow up. That will make it so your water doesn't get heat soaked to fast. I have had great results on the street with my setup, equivalent to the air/air spearco 18x7x2.3 core IC i had on the car. The performance with ICE added is much better than the air/air I had in the car.
