wastegate stuck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!

Now this is testiment to getting a boost gauge it is important. I installed one today and guess what. All the time i thought i am hitting stock boost BUT nope i am boosting something like 15psi + with NO boost controller so i am like WTF.

Now does this mean my wastegrate is stuck open or close, becuae i have searched and i got conflicting answers.

I have no vaccum from my wastegate line i found through out today when instaling my boost gauge, so ihad to Tee off the BOV vaccum line.

The big question is how do i fix it. because i am thankfull i have not BLOWN MY ENGINE yet.

So please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your wastegate is probably adjusted to 15psi. You will you have to detach your turbo and manifold to turn it down. IIRC, I believe you tighten the wastegate to lower the boost.

huh? what are you talking about?

t25's dont have an adjustable wastegate, you should be boosting about 7 psi stock.

one reason you'd be boosting that high is if there is no line on the wastegate or a clogged line from your pressure source...

your engine should be fine its the turbo you gotta worry about. Running max boost on the turbo will shorten its life exponetially.

And to answer your first question the wastegate would be stuck closed, a wastegate opens to releive pressure out the exhaust, so when it feels x psi then it opens to "bleed" (cant find a beter word) excess pressure

he could be boosting like that if the housing is twisted i think causing the wastegate to stick....I'm a little tired so dont quote me on that..

If its the stock wastegate. Perfect example is that ATP sells their Disco turbos with a stock 15psi actuator.

Exactly, or if it damaged allowing not enough pressure to reach the actuator.

I think he should be more worried about the engine, especially on a T25.

If it was stuck closed though he would be hittting 20 - 22psi, which is the max it will hit.

1. He didnt say it was an aftermarket wastegate.. in his sig he got: Blacktop avenir SR20DET
4 Bar JWT ECU Bored MAF
Nismo FPR & K&N Pop chager
3" DP & 3" full cat back
26 x 6 x2.75 custom intercooler
custom 2.5" IC piping

2. We agree here
3. as long as you got timing correct and since he got a 4bar fuel setup which is plenty, you would worry about the turbo.. that motor is made for that turbo.

4. I stand corrected, but the t25 wont hold that high boost, it will settle down to 15

i concure. i agree that the turbo is in much much greater danger than the motor, only if it leaned out would it hurt the motor, but it wont with 4 bar if it didnt go past 15 psi on a t25.

Ooops missed the sig, thought it was a DE. (15 psi is fine)

But concerning the stock actuator, I know a few ppl on these boards who bought used turbo setups, or JDM turbo engines with a lot of "not stock" parts on them.
Victorious once bought a used T25 kit from somebody, and when it was dissmantled we found out it was a ball bearing T25, with a modded actuator and hand ported manifold, and the seller didnt even know.

There is a post on the boards made by LanceSR20, that he once disconnected his wastgate on his T25 to see how much it would boost and sure enough it peaked at 22 and then bounced between 20 - 22 psi.
