Its the same? I was under the impression the DETs was larger. This is why:

Anyways, a new Oil Pump from Nissan is like $400 so I dont really want to go that route. I have a DE front plate w/ pump, and to the naked eye it looks identical to the DET front plate I have, but I didnt think they were the same.

I was under the same impression...larger pump drive gear, or something like that. However, the front cover looks physically the same.

they are the same, i've interchanged a DE timing cover onto my BB DET...as far as the oil pump gear is concerned...i'm completely rebuilding my DET for at least 400 horsepower and i'll be going with a brand new oil pump gear that cost about 20-30 bucks from nissan. So you should be straight with one from the dealer. peace.

The oil pump /front cover is not 400.00 . At leas not from Courtesy Nissan. You have to buy them assembled and ther like 120 bucks together. i bought one about 4 months ago and it was no where near 400.00

Well I have my DE cover that was working fine when I bought the SE-R, but it has 176k miles on it. You think it would be ok. I called the nissan garage here and I believe it was $200+. I didnt really keep it in my mind because that wasnt what I wanted to hear .

Do you *need* a high volumn pump...or just want one?

I have the front cover...$50 shipped to your door in the lower 48 states.

Well I had 2 DETs, both spun bearings, but I have heard that spinning a bearing can cause the pressure to drop severly. I tried one pump and this is the case. The only pump I have left is my DE pump which is, as I am told, the same as the DET pump. I am going to swap in the DE pump and if it doesnt do the job right I will take your BB pump. Can you hold onto it for about a week or less? Thanks

Josh

No problem, just let me know.

FWIW, I think it's the GTi-R pump that's the bigger pump. I'm using the front cover from the N1 which has a bigger pump...the only drawback is you have to use the N1 crank pulley, drive gear, and pickup.

to clear this all up...

The oil pumps off of the avenier, bluebird and the american DE engine are all the same. The GTi-R has a higher volume pump than these, but you need the spacer as well as the harmonic balancer from the same motor. I don't know for sure that the N1 pump actually flows more, but hey, it came off of the N1, so it's got to be better right?? the N1 pump requires the use of the N1 balancer and either the gti-r spacer or the n1 spacer. there is another pump, AW000... both turbo and vvl... again, requires the larger spacer and the n1 pulley. whether or not any of the vvl pumps are better than the gti-r pump is a bit of a mystery, however, i have a 54c engine in my car and noticed nothing by switching to the n1 pump.

hope this all helps, and if homeboy still wants a front cover, i have 2 54c covers, both in good working order, $10 + shipping.
