93 SE-R project (GTI-R swap, AWD convert)

Hey I need some feed back on this project I want to do. I'm gonna take a 93 SE-R swap it for a GTI-R, make it a front mount, change the turbo to a T28 ball bareing, do the AWD convert. is it worth doing all that? Does anyone know where can get some of the work done I'm willing to go from Portland up to Seattle? Let me know I need the feed back and opinions on what else I could do.

Do us all a favor and save an SE-R. At least try it with one that's dogged out and not a pristine one.

If I do do it it's gonna be a shell project. I'm still thinking if I want to or if I want to go another way with another car or direction with a sentra

That's the best way is to get a piece of crap base-model Sentra and cut it up for your project. You will likely have to cut the firewall and floor, so strip the interior and trunk.
These guys can probably source a gti-r rear subframe: http://www.jhotimports.com/

I'd say, either leave it FWD, or got a Subaru 2.5RS and drop in the STI motor. Getting the Suby will be cheaper than making your sentra AWD.

I think you mean the money goes to the one being paid to fabricate the whole setup. If I got that wrong I apologize.

But I don't think parts have to cost very much. The biggest cost is getting a hold of a gtir awd tranny, custom driveline, and gtir rear differential. Personally, I would use a Miata rear subframe. The differential, suspension and brakes all attach to the subframe - not the car frame. So...that means the biggest obstacle will be in grafting the subframe to the Sentra frame, and figuring out the correct strut setup.

Learn to weld, grind and fab metal so you can do it yourself and save money.

this awd swap thing has been talked about a lot and all i know about it is ppl that have tried it said it took tons of time and a lot of money.

also a gtir tranny isnt hard to get a hold of, it comes with the engine when u get the front clip, witch i think would be the cheapest way, i priced a front clip here for 2300

I really believe those persons who say it took lots of money were going about it the wrong way. Like any other project there's probably 20 different ways to do something. The trick is finding the most simple solution and providing your own labor/tools.

By the way, I found this pic of a bare Miata frame. Check out the rear subframe. It should not take a whole lot of work to get that fitted to the Sentra unibody frame. The Miata control arms attach to the subframe. The Sentra rear frame looks sturdy enough to weld to and fab in the Miata rear subframe.

B13 AWD, convertible? Why not make it submersible while you're at it?

first off...why would you have to ask if its worth it.seriously? if is something you really wanna do..then just do it....

also for the guy who sad it cost a lot...parts aren't a lot if u gor with stock gtir parts....also if your payin for someone to do it then why post since its not your time putting the work into the car....

the key thing here is to be good welder or know someone who is. since theres gonna be more welding then anything else.

ad if it sounds like im kinda pissy I am. cause theres info around here along with pictures... if you want an awd system... do a search of coach screen name and he hasany older custom awd pulsar nx for sale...pretty reasonable price to.

sorry for been rude.
